According to Apple leaker Jon Prosser, Apple's upcoming release of the MacBook Air will feature various colors, similar to the colors in the newly released 24-inch iMac.

In the latest video of his YouTube channel Front Page Tech, Prosser says the same source who accurately provided him information on the first Apple silicon iMac coming in colors has told him that he recently saw a prototype of a blue MacBook. However, Prosser says his source has been "very cryptic" and that he assumes it's the upcoming MacBook Air powered by the M2 chip.

If the information is true, the new colorful lineup of MacBooks would be a throwback to the older iBook G3. Apple first started to offer vibrant color options for its iPad with the iPad Air, released in October, and the iMac followed suit last month.

Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has reported that a future model of the low-end portable Mac will feature a mini-LED display; however, that shouldn't be in the near future.

Bloomberg's Mark Gurman has said that Apple is working on a thinner and lighter MacBook Air that could launch in the second half of 2021, however, Bloomberg has not reported that the new models will come in different colors.

Can we stop with this clown Prosser? With the exception of one or two (Miani, Tailosive, even though he repeats himself over and over) I am SO sick of these youtube clowns.

That being said, bring on the colors! Just please, the option of white or black bezels, if for nothing else, to cut down on the number of youtube clowns who will no doubt complain about that.

My M1 MBA is an amazing device.

Apple release a colourful iMac and it is somehow a rumour that the other consumers lines will come in colour. To me, it's an expectation. The speculation is on if we are getting colourful pro machines. I would have loved the new iPad Pro to come in something more interesting than black or white, computers need a wee bit of colour after being drab for so long.

It also 'could' come in nothing but deep purple and fluorescent green. If we get to use words like 'could', we can put just about anything after it.

Apple could make Windows-only computers with their M processors.
Apple could make their watch play Nintendo games.
Apple could get into the space race.

...sorry, it has been a long week.

After years of conventional muted metallic colors, it’s great to see Apple back at doing something fun with the new M1 iMacs - and it doesn’t take someone like Prosser to guess that Apple will update the MBA’s in similar colors. Apple is going to differentiate between consumer and pro products using color, which makes sense.

He has been pretty reliable several times.
Well, “now that the iMac has colors, a future MacBook may, too” is… hardly a rumor. It’s the most obvious thing in the world, and he doesn’t even commit to the prediction.

He was correct about the iMac getting colors, but wrong about which ones.

So he seems to embellish whatever info he does have with a lot of guesswork.

White bezels? ?
The bezels definitely should be white, and the keyboard as well, to keep the design coherence. But I seriously doubt we'll see colorful MacBooks. The palm rest areas would likely be washed out in a matter of months, making the whole thing look terrible. Unless they have invented a new dyeing method that we don't know of.

He has been pretty reliable several times. He has got it wrong too just as Kuo and Gurman had. The difference is that Prosser is extremely unlikable, he is just annoying, and his show is cringy.
So it's a good thing MacRumors posts the info so you don't have to get bent out of shape about someone's personality :)
