I don't remember AirTags being part of the YouTube metadata found last week. Maybe they'll announce it during the iPhone event next month.
I wonder if they'll say something about the iPhone being late tomorrow. Imagine if no iPhone is announced in September, it would be the first time in years.

Get ready to get disappointed tomorrow. No iPhones tomorrow :(

I have a feeling Tiles will be going out of the business soon. See you later.

Not sure Tile will go out of business. I am using Tile and they work great. I can even replace the battery so I dont have to keep buying Tiles. I'll bet money that you can't replace the battery in Air Tags which means when the battery dies, you have to repurchase the product over and over again.

Mixed-record leaker Jon Prosser has today revealed supposedly design-accurate renders of Apple's long-awaited AirTags, via a new video on YouTube channel Front Page Tech.

Apple has been believed to be working on a Tile-like Bluetooth tracking device that is designed to be attached to items like keys and wallets for tracking purposes, letting users locate them directly in the Find My app.

Prosser's 3D renders have apparently been closely based on videos and images of "actual AirTags." He claims to have not posted the original videos to protect his supply-chain sources.

There is no logo on the front of the device, and all product information is etched into a polished silver metal disc on the rear. The final product is reportedly "just a tad larger than a bottle cap." The design is not far from the design envisioned by many concept artists.

The device has no mounting system built-in. Prosser says that a "keychain that has a little leather pouch on it that you can just slip your AirTag into" will be sold separately. Bloomberg's Mark Gurman has similarly said in the past that AirTags will be available with a small leather case.

Prosser went on to say that the ultra-wideband U1 chip will facilitate much of the AirTag's functionality, and it will be coming to "most if not all of their products in the future," with the plan seemingly being to make the U1 chip "part of their entire ecosystem." The U1 chip premiered in iPhone 11 models last year, but beyond improved AirDrop, much of its utility has yet to be realized.

Prosser stated that it is "likely" that AirTags will be unveiled alongside the HomePod mini tomorrow. Both products are "technically ready," and "in terms of production schedule, they are done, and could possibly be announced." Previous leaks have suggested that AirTags are already in full production, so an announcement tomorrow does not seem to be out of the question. Prosser said he did not have information about retail pricing.

He also reinforced claims that the iPhone 12 and AirPods Studio will not appear at Apple's event tomorrow, with the focus instead residing on the Apple Watch Series 6, iPad Air 4, and iPad 8.

Last week, Prosser leaked a range of information about Apple's expected lower-cost Apple Watch, which is also alleged to arrive at Apple's event tomorrow.

It is worth noting that Prosser inaccurately claimed that new Apple Watch and iPad models would be announced via press release on Tuesday of last week, but on other occasions, he has shared accurate information about Apple's product release plans.

Prosser said he plans to make similar renders to show off the design of AirPods Studio in the immediate future.

Prosser went out of his way to say that these products are UNLIKELY to be released tomorrow. He said they were technically ready for production which does not mean that they will be presented tomorrow.

And “WWDC” was. The only meaningful one was “Series 6” because that’s a product Apple hasn’t released. The absence of a tag doesn’t mean it’s not happening; the presence of a tag doesn’t mean it is.
Maybe they'll announce it during the iPhone event next month.
That’s possible. It makes more sense, in my own opinion, but given that AirTags will be viewed as an iPhone accessory it also makes some sense to announce it alongside another iPhone accessory — the Apple Watch.

They’re not going to acknowledge a product that they’re not ready to announce, and they certainly won’t characterize it in a press announcement as “late” or “delayed.”

Watch me eat these words soon but I just don’t see Apple introducing these pretty much ever. Reason being is when Apple enters a market segment they dominate it from the start. The “bluetooth tracker market” isn’t a huge market and although they would dominate it I just don’t see the intelligent days to day application for this.

They do?

That's not been the case on several new products. iPhone was very slow to begin with, Apple TV, iPod, iMac all very slow and single digit market share from the beginning. In fact I can't think of a new product from Apple that killed it from from the beginning - perhaps ipad.

Any article with Prosser in it needs one of those *political post limited to users with 100 or more posts* warnings in it. 😂

I've given up trusting his prognostication, and I'd like to quote ol' W:

"fool me once, shame on — shame on you. Fool me — you can't get fooled again.”

Have they done the “one more thing” bit in a while? I think if anything get that treatment this year it will be a new arm based macbook.
One more thing has always been for the most exciting thing, not for side shows. There is absolutely no chance, they'd use "One more thing" for airtags. Maybe for Glass about 6 months prior to release, maybe for some new kind of laptops (e.g dual touch screens, super slim, etc) but not for something as basic as airtags.

Spot on! You got that right.

To be honest, I don't really get it when we had a similar track record of the iPhone X, with even bigger supplier issues regarding their display qualities and camera modules back then - which ultimately lead to the September even announcing an October launch *just like the iPhone 12*.

And somehow there's still a bunch of people panicking and insisting an October event instead.......

I just can't understand why😐

Apple never said october. They said delayed by few weeks.

Few weeks means at least October since Apple hasn't released a phone earlier than third week of September since the iPhone 6. You'd have to go back to the iPhone 4 for a release date earlier than mid-September.

But if in your language "few" means 1, then yes, September is a possibility.

OK, I'm sure this has been said...but I have to get it out....

This is my first time watching one of Prosser's FPT videos....and I was wincing through the entire thing! What's with all the "quacked?" out curse words? And did he actually use stolen stock images?!

If I can help it, I will never be submitting my brain to that trash ever again.

LOL at leather pouch to attach it to a key chain sold separately. Apple has no shame...

There are only a few use cases i can think of when a key chain attachment wouldn't be beneficial.

Tell that to Tile. It's actually already a pretty decent sized market. One that will likely double in size or more once Apple enters it. There are users like me that have multiple Tiles already planning to migrate over to AirTags as soon as they are released (or slowly over time based on the price).

I don't use my Tiles day to day...but they are on items that would be extremely painful to lose such as my laptop bag or my camera gear. I only need to use them once in order for them to pay for themselves. For me they are like an insurance policy.

when they are entering a space that is super saturated and been available for years. With UWB they will have better positioning. But who really cares? As long as I know the room som

Nah, they have a huge benefit over other products in the market based on the number of iPhone users out there. Additionally, I've found Tile and others to be missing out on a few features. If Apple can do it just a little better than the rest, they stand to steal a lot of customers. Not to mention all the customers that never used a Tile and now may suddenly be interested since Apple is in the market.
