It's interesting to see one of my old threads revived from a while ago :p

And yes, I have moved on from trying to protect the trackpad - other than a bit of dust, it still looks pretty darn new.

My previous Macbook Pro was approx 1.5 years old and you could see parts where it seemed "worn off" on the trackpad (as well as the spacebar, and a few other keys). I am wondering if the Magic trackpad would turn out the same?

I bought a retina 13inch MBP a few months ago and decided to put a BestSkinEver shield on the whole notebook, including the trackpad. I was worried about altering the feel of the trackpad (it feels so good!) but after 15 minutes I was over it, and it still feels great and works even better. If I ever resell my notebook I know i can get more money since it will look brand new.

the magic trackpad has a coating made of glass so shouldn't happen i guess.

If I may revive an oldie here....
I just took the zagg glass off an old iPhone and threw it onto my Magic Trackpad. Obviously, there is no need to protect anything here as my trackpad is nearly 4 years old and shows no signs of age.
However, the nice feel of zagg glass on the trackpad, well it's a very nice feel.
I'd drop $20 for something like this. If I spent that $20 when the trackpad was new, that would be quite the value for something only $20 to easily last this long.
OP was onto something ten years ago.
