So I started this thread back in 2023 and I've largely been happy with protonmail, but very unhappy with the custom domain I initially selected. I found what I consider a better custom domain that seems to be a better fit. I started the arduous tasks of updating everything that had used the old domain name. What's funny is, there's a couple of services I had used that will not allow me to change the email address. They're not critical, so I'll just deactivate/delete them and reregister if I feel the need (3d printing sites).
I'm still using my icloud email, but its more for apple specific stuff, though I largely stopped migrating accounts from the icloud email to my proton mail. I'll restart that initiative soon - I was a bit hesitant to change my financial institutions, I'll start with the credit card companies.
