iPhone 8/Plus Proximity sensor not working during incoming calls only

On my 8 Plus during incoming calls the proximity sensor fails to turn the screen back on if I raise the phone from my ear. Have to hit home button etc.

Yes its fitted with a 3D type/Edge to Edge screen protector but during outgoing calls the proximity sensor sensor works just fine.

Any ideas?

Have you tried triggering the sensor with your finger during a mock call?
