i bought a used ps 3 60 gig for 300 from gamespot along time ago dont use it very much but still regret it less then my wii.

They added PS1 support to the PSP, which is a lot less powerful than even the PS2. The point of an emulator is to not need the original hardware, since its.. emulated. Really, anything can be emulated.

No, they were right. They weren't talking about the PSP, they were talking about the PS3. Every single Playstation 3 console is backwards compatible with PS1 games. Only the early ones, however, are compatible with PS2 games.

I know, I was originally talking about the PSP since they added software emulation later, not the PS3 so I dont know why he mentioned it outside of misreading PSP as PS3.

The PS2 selling for $99 is a pretty good move by Sony. They're still not making money on the PS3 console as far as I know, and the PS2 is a huge cash-cow for Sony, and the funny thing is it continues to sell quite well.

I believe they make something like $30 bucks on each console sold?

But in all honesty, I think Sony should be more concerned with what goes on with their PS3 console, but again, if your not making money on the console, how can you drop the price?

That said, I love my PS3, and wouldn't trade it for anything, well except a Mac Pro :p

i can see the ps2 cuting into the Wii and 360 sales if you look at the wii the games that sale good are gimick games like wii fit mario tennis etc the other games like madden and 3rd party games seem to sell better on the ps2 and if people wanna play those games the ps2 is better plus you get a dvd player out of it wich the wii does not.

Punctuation kiddo!

But no. The PS2 isn't advertised, is still hella expensive for 9 year old tech, the Wii was already doing better than the PS2, no online play etc. It isn't going to damage Wii sales at all, the only thing that will stop this juggernaut now is the Wii 2.
