Ah, good point, I was not aware that the 360 and Wii are open like that. Are there cross-platform games that allow custom music on the 360 and not on the PS3?

If that is the case, I stand corrected. 🙂

You can technically use custom soundtrack on 360 with every game 😉

As far as I'm aware you can play custom music in all 360 games. It's an xbox feature, not a game feature.

Yup, it's part of the XBOX 360's Dashboard code. However, developers can integrate with it—having song and artist overlays, etc. I believe Burnout does this.

Yup. The best for it being PGR3/4. It's great in those.

Is the new cheaper PS3 backwards compatible? I thought I heard mention that the new "econo version" was not going to be - but never heard any more.

As for firmware - maybe this is my ADD speaking - but updates such as this start to wear on me, fast. Usually when I'm going to play a game, I want to sit back, and enjoy. It seems every time I fire up the PS3, there is an update that I have to complete before I can play. (because you get locked out of anything online until you're up-to-date) After it's downloaded, it needs to be installed, and restarted. Then - my game typically needs an update after that. What ever happened to the good ole' days, when you could just fire up your game system and "play". You know, no catches, just fun.

It would be less bothersome to me if you could opt to "play first" and then before the machine is shut down, it would update.

I think the hardware for PS3 is excellent - but until the "real" blockbuster games Sony has(d) hits the market - it's just a protein folding space heater for the time being.

I know its your opinion here but I'm going to disagree. I think the games are already pouring out....for the past several months sony has been putting out some real gems(3rd party & 1st)

I Think that slum is over now and with warhawk, RnC, COD4, folk soul already on the table and biggies like AC, Uncharted coming out this year it just can't get any better.....well for the year that is.

Thing is they're not entirely blockbusting system sellers like Halo 3, Galaxy, MGS4 et al. Until there is one of the games on the system then it'll continue its media image of mediocrity.

^I think PS3 has gotten past that "mediocrity" with brilliant titles like RnC even in the media eyes.....true RnC hasn't sold millions but as of having top titles they do have one that shines with the likes of other console heavys.


3rd party titles are still coming through...COD4, AC and the difference between version are little or nothing now.
