It sounds like I'm in the minority here but I like the hidden older/lower priority notifications in iOS 16. Hopefully we can keep it as an option.

Edit: It keeps my notification center less cluttered, which is helpful. I can get tons of notifications from various apps (most are not important but every once in a while they are, which is why I keep them on). That's a big reason why it's helpful for me to have notifications hidden.
Understandable, maybe the best is to have the option.

A tricky switch label name to come up with that conveys what it does, because I can’t even explain exactly what’s up… The very first encounter went like: I see a notification right there in the middle, tried to unlock the phone but didn’t quite reach the bottom, so more notifications came up.

What the heck, it’s too different and at the very first try it felt like a bug.

looooooooots of people don’t know the notifications are “hidden”.
F i n a ll y.
Just add a dial pad editor function to correct dialed or copied phone numbers and we can call it a “decent phone”.
Smart?, weeeeell, still a looooooooooooooong shot.
Hopefully Tim will use an iPhone before he dies.
Photos apps finds so few faces ever that is a useless function.
And a million things broken that we accept as “just work”, but no, they just don’t work.

I had no idea. I was wondering why all my notifications were coming in days later ha ha. I thought notifications were just broken

Yuck, this should at the very least be an option tied to the notifications settings that don't actually work right now anyway.

I like having it the way it is. New and Time Sensitive Notifications only. Other crap you've already ignored is there but requires (gasp!) a swipe up to see them. That's how it should be.
It absolutely SHOULD NOT be that way. It was horribly unintelligent design to hide them. I was highly embarrassed for Apple engineers that they were stupid enough to do that.

Imagine being dumb enough to design for hundreds of millions of people and thinking that an appreciable percentage would even know about the hidden notifications, let ALONE remember to invoke them.

It was unimaginably and radically stupid.

I personally am an advanced iOS user and I would often swipe up and see notifications I didn’t even know were there. Pathetically bad design.

ALL NOTIFICATIONS SHOULD BE SHOWN ALWATS UNTIL ACTED ON. THEYRE CALLED NOTIFICATIONS FOR A REASON.

I personally emailed Federighi about the idiocy of the hidden notifications and told him fewer than 5% of iOS users would know that existed and 100% of iOS users would miss notifications because of it.

I also told him that notifications options must be added to place notifications back in the intelligent position on the top of the Lock Screen.
