I would definitely pick up Killzone:Liberation off of the Playstation Store. There's a free update that you can get through the game that adds the option to play against people via Wifi, and there's always around 100 people playing. The patch also includes an extra level, all of which makes it a killer purchase. You will easily get 8-12 hours given the difficulty (Guerilla Games are wicked AI programmers)

:) Not to mention a great looking game for the platform.

there been rumors that there will be more games announced at e3.
Game announcements at E3? Don't believe ya.

And Killzone Liberation? Bleh. Granted I've only played about 30 minutes of Killzone 2 so I don't know how the games are supposed to play, but Liberation is just pants. Reminded me of a very slow paced Cannon Fodder in a superbly dull environment.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion.

For me, it I don't think it's worth it. I received my PSP, an original 1000-series as a birthday gift from my best friend in Feb, 2007. Sure for a few months, I used it constantly and bought a few games for it, but after a few months, the novelty wore off. By the time my next birthday rolled around, I wasn't using it very often and now it's sitting in my room collecting dust somewhere. I think the last time I played with it at a good length was probably in June or July. Now that I have a PS3, I have no reason at all to use my PSP. The main reason is that I don't find that there are any good games for the PSP, compared to the PS3 or even the PS2. Although with all the good games coming for PS3 this year on the other hand, my PS3 will be seeing plenty of usage. :D

im anxious to see what Media Molecule can do with Little big planet for the psp they said in the blog that they are working on creating and posting etc. also i think Assasins creed will be a new game as well.

I do like Killzone Liberation - and while I don't think the actual game lived up to the demo, I like how much they released afterwards as free content (as opposed to the typical charge-for-extras attitude.

However, it also highlights a pet-peeve I have with the PSN Store - charging $15 for something that has been selling everywhere for $10 for ages! It was already a 'best seller' which means $20, and because of age it sells at Walmart and places like that much cheaper. In general the PSN store overcharges for things that you can get much cheaper in physical form.

Haha that's what I thought, but I think it must be some lack-of-UMD thing. :p

I have the original PSP and for over a year it has just been collecting dust. Most games are total crap and just overpriced. I can't think of one game except for GTA that I actually enjoyed playing. At home I stick to my PS3 and MBP for games and on the go I have my iPhone for the times I'm really bored. I mean some games are really great for passing time when you're bored (I'm currently in love with Galcon :p).

I have to admit that I bought a PSP mainly to be a media device with some game functions, not as a pure game console. Indeed I would say that 70% of all time spent with it was using the net browser and watching anime and TV series on the go. Then I went and bought an iPod Touch. Now my PSP is gathering dust.

One remedy for this would be if Sony would allow you to activate more users at a time for a PSP, because now you can only play games bought from one PSN store at a time. I have plenty of PS1 titles bought from Hong Kong store and American store, but my main PSN account is European and I would like to play with that one.

Also, UMD's suck, they have terrible loading times. Here's hoping that the next PSP model has internal flash memory and no UMD drive at all.

So, 1.5gb+ downloads for big games? that's possible on a PC with a fast connection but on a 802.11g on a handheld device? Nah. I'm hoping for UMD2 or whatever but with an option to copy the game (DRMed of course) to the memory stick for quick play.

They are already offering new UMD titles for download, for example Resistance Retribution. I don't know how big it is (my guess is around 1 GB) but seeing as memory card prices are coming down constantly, I wouldn't be surprised if a PSP 2 had 8 or 16 GB of memory built-in, with another 8 or more easily obtained via a memory stick.

If you mean the problem is with the connection speed, well in that case they are already allowing you to download the game from the PC client or through a PS3.

But you see people want don't want to do that, thats why they built the shop into the PSP and (other device entirely) the iPhone has an app store too. Relying on another device to simply obtain software isn't a good idea.

No UMD means no store sales. And given the tumultuous history of the PSP I doubt they're going to risk potential sales of people with slow or bad internet connections.

I wonder if they would do 'games on MemStick' for retail ... or sell download codes at retail the way they do for XBLA and Wii VC points? Either way it has to be a careful balance - the PSP seems to be barely hanging on to shelf space as it is ...

Not with memory stick prices. And no, selling codes still rely upon a connection at a later time. Many people don't have that.

that answer is it depends.

First question to ask is a Mobil gaming device even worth it?
How much will you use it?

I have thought about buying either a PSP or a DS but what is stopping is are those questions above. I have my 360 for when I am home and I will use that and I do not go out of town often enough to justify buying a mobile gaming device.

Still very tempted and it might be happening in the next year or so.

^ I play my handhelds at home simply because they have games the consoles dont. There isn't a LocoRoco, decent Pokemon, Kirby, Castlevania platformer, Advance Wars, new Monster Hunter available on home consoles.

Yes, actually they are, especially when UMDs are likely very cheap (no chips to produce).
Why would they go with MS games again? Is anyone getting this? :D They're not going to cannibalise their system by removing physical media, they're not going to sell games on MS due to their higher price than UMD.
So this new PSP will have what? Some internal storage for save files/profiles/system options. Or 2 MS slots - one for games one for the saved data? lol.

I actually agree - just trying to figure out what a 'UMD-less' PSP future looks like ...

They could continue to develop the format for higher capacity. Perhaps a blue laser?

I love mine. There are a few games I really like. The Atari Collection rocks as you can rotate the system and play some games (like Centipede and Tempest) in their original aspect ratios. :D

That works because all they've done is taken a PSP box containing a memory card and installed the game onto the memory card. They likely save money since they don't have to bundle another item in the box and make another UMD/box.

My best friend has an original PSP, and I wouldn't ever recommend getting one. iPod touch all the way. ;) :)

For which games do you recommend the Touch all of the way? :)

I am not much of a iPhone/iPod Touch Gamer, But I do like my Tetris. :D

But is it better than Tetris DS? Also blunt touch controls on a game as precise and fast as Tetris, or is it slowed down from the DS version (level 20+ marathon, mygod).
