    Hi,

Now that final Mojave release is out, can you please report if we still experience the racing fan bug on CMP 4,1>5,1? I really hope this is solved, I don't like the idea of using software to control the fans, I rather have them managed natively.

I have never had this issue and still don't. Since mine is in a studio I do keep the fans under Macs Fan Control but I tested it on auto and it's acting as normal. Hopefully someone who has had the issue before can respond but I don't see a reason not to use Macs Fan Control. It works great, is non-invasive and free.

The fan bug persists for me on Mojave. However, I have it under control: Since I prefer the native control, I've written a small background app that runs a Metal computation if it senses high fan speeds on boot up, stressing the GPU and restoring the normal fan speeds.

If there is enough interest, I could certainly make the app available for testing here. Note that because the app runs an intensive computation that not all video cards can handle, it is limited to the 8 GB RX 580.

Sorry, Apple’s built in fan control is not configured for the power requirements of 130 watt cpu’s or higher wattage pcie devices. (It’s been mentioned countless times on the forum).

You may be able to slow down the PCIe bay fan by running a 3D benchmark for a minute, then quitting the app. This slow down will work until the next reboot.

Macs Fan Control is the easiest approach for a well maintained app.

I would like to test it, if possible.

Keep an eye on this forum. I will create a thread for the app.
