I did take off the CPU fan, so maybe it was that.

If you took off the heat sink then you will need new thermal paste.

Just send the thing in to get fixed. It looks like you're getting into a situation where you'll just end up doing more harm than good.

Is it insured? check maybe your house insurance policy.

My mate pissed on my old Dell in Uni, got a brand new MacBook from the insurance company a week later. He's now my best friend.

Put on new thermal paste, no more shutdowns, and it runs cooler too 🙂

Just needs a new battery, and it's (almost) as good as new 🙂

Well, I guess a spoke too soon. It turned off this morning.

So it lasted MUCH longer... still a heat issue? Any other ideas?

I have a bit of a sleepwalking problem and I peed on my Dell desktop one time. Apparently I actually opened both CD drives and aimed for those as they were both open/sopping wet in the morning. Anyhoo it acted wierd for about a week and still runs great a year later 😀 maybe you just need some time and it will fix itself. ?
