you have to be on an iPhone for the push feature to work. It won't work on the touch.

what he said^^^^^^

I think it only does push for the phone cause i think the yahoo servers ping the phone over edge/3g telling it to do a "fetch". only "fetching" email when you have some instead of "fetching" at timed intervals.

I had the 16gig touch before i got my 3g. I just set the touch to fetch every 15 minutes. However, i think this caused problems on my wifi network cause it would kick my xbox off of xbox live. ( this could just have been a problem with my network, I did have a friend complain of his iphone doing the same thing with his xbox)

This is what my push looks like

Followed these instructions exactly and now...it works. Thanks!

If you already have the mail set up in the mail client.

1. Tap settings
2. Tap "Fetch New Data" (it is the 3rd one from the top, with the orange clock)
3. switch push to ON
4. at the bottom of the same menu, switch to "manually"
5. Tap "Advanced"
6. Tap on your Yahoo account.
7. Tap "push"

That should do it. that is how it works on my 3g with nothing special.

You don't have to do anything else. Yahoo does the rest on its own. enjoy!

how do you post your screen shots? i know how to take them, but what process do you do to get them from the phone to the forums?
you hold on the home button and press the sleep/power button at the same time. You will see your phone flash, once it flashes the picture is saved on your camera roll.

After that I would email it to myself and post it as a attachment on the forum.

no.

when you pay 19.99 a year, it removes all ads and gives you true push email.

i'm sorry. this is just not true. i don't know why you're getting push email with yahoo plus, but you shouldn't be. yahoo plus uses pop access, not imap, so i don't see how it's possible to get email pushed to your phone. remember, i had yahoo plus, and it didn't work. i know others who have/had yahoo plus, and push email didn't work. i'm sure you could google up a lot of other users who couldn't get push email with yahoo plus. until you can substantiate your claims, please stop telling others that it works absolutely.

Yahoo Push to the iPhone has been working pretty well for about the last six months I've heard.

sorry man, don't know what to say. push works for me and i'll leave it at that.

I just got an email back from yahoo. They said that there is no difference in the way yahoo mail works for iPhone. Plus or free it all works the same on iPhone.I would copy and paste the email here but I'm away from a computer. I guess the only difference is the pop functionality and the removal of ads. They also mentioned that the quality of the push is NO different!

Yahoo Push 3G Fix!

I had the same problem of not having the Push option for my Yahoo Mail setting on the 3G. It only had the option for Fetch or Manual. Seems that this account had been setup on my iPhone by syncing with iTunes, rather than being created on the iPhone.

I tried the steps outlined above and did not have the Push option. So, I deleted the account on my iPhone and then Added a new account. By re-entering the yahoo setup on the iPhone, it now has the Push option under Fetch New Data> Advanced. I set the Fetch to manual since both my mail accounts are push.

works perfect now!

I'm using Push for my Yahoo account. I couldn't get it to work with my regular Yahoo mail but it works flawlessly since I paid the 20 bucks for their yearly service. Very nice.

Sorry to bump this, but I think Im going to use Yahoo's Push E-mail for texting, instead of paying an extra $20 for unlimited texts. Unfortunately myname@yahoo.com is taken, so I signed up for myname@ymail.com (Yahoo offers ymail now). Will the @ymail account be able to receive Push email, or is it only the @yahoo accounts?

I can't actually. I don't care enough to do YOUR research for YOU. Why do you have to be so rude?

Im not being rude. Ive searched google and couldnt find a thing. Couldnt even find the "ymail faq" you were referring to. The way you said it, made it seem like you had the answer, just didnt feel like telling me.

as far as I can tell ymail and yahoomail are the same thing, so push probably does work.
