If you want to run that at 3840×2160 at 60 Hz (which the cards can do via DP), you need an active DP-to-HDMI2.0 adapter. Just sayin' :)
Yeah, maybe at some point. A this moment, I really have no use for it. I tried viewing one of my high res Blueray videos on it at that res and the video began stuttering and desynched from the audio. I'll just leave it at full HD for right now.

But thanks, I know what to look for whenever I want to do that.

If anything you should run the TV in the 1080p HiDPI (Retina) mode - that'll be much sharper than normal 1080p. You'll be limited to 30 Hz until you get the correct adapter though since it'll actually run at UHD.

Hmmm. I don't seem to have that listed as a mode as such. But I did click the button for 'Default for this display' and then check what resolution it put me on.

This is the result…

You'll need to force-enable HiDPI if it's not showing up. Terminal: (and reboot afterwards)

Code:
sudo defaults write /Library/Preferences/com.apple.windowserver.plist DisplayResolutionEnabled -bool true

Hmmm. I'm not noticing an new listing in the resolution list. However, one of my video cards (presumably the one the HDTV is attached to) is using much more memory than it was before.

EDIT: That may just be down to the fact that I have a 4K HDTV. System Info is telling me 3840 x 2160 @30 Hz (2160p 4k UHD- Ultra High Definition).

Or, I don't know what I am supposed to be looking for. :)

Yep. And what do you think? Is it much sharper than normal 1080p?
IDK. I think I prefer the resolution that the stock system defaulted to. Not that I don't appreciate the help though. I'll probably switch back and forth based on what I'm watching.

one thing to make sure is that the 4K TV is connected via one of the GT 640's HDMI ports or via a Display-port to HDMI adapter

if you connect it via DVI to HDMI, then the higher rez options will not work properly (even at 30Hz, as you are going into Dual link DVI mode, but the TV is always expecting a single link)

I remember this issue first cropping up when you had the G5 Quad :)

I don't like using adapters when I don't have to, although what I have often forces that. The TV is HDMI, uses an HDMI cable and is plugged directly into the HDMI port of the video card.

I have recently restructured central command (as my wife refers to it). The 2.3DC G5 and my Quad G5 have been removed and will be put to other uses in the garage. That has freed up space.

Before all this at some point the plastic support on one of my Studio Displays broke. Not a big issue, but because of that it was unstable and during this restructuring it fell. This is why my 18.1" Gateway monitor is now being used. @Raging Dufus: we may need to exchange usernames

That G3 still looks oh so familiar.... On the bright side I rejoined the rebellion. If that is what a Mac user is anymore. Picked up a M1 and found a nice 2018 Mini on craigslist for $600. Linux and I had a really aweful breakup and I only deal with it at work now.
