SpyMac posted a movie which claims to demonstrate the possibility of upcoming quad Macs.

And just last night, an anonymous source sent us video footage of what he/she claims to be "a screen capture from a machine [his/her] company is testing". The message was short, ending with a promise to try to find out more information about the system, which "arrived very recently".

A picture can be found here.

look... spymac has basically copied Macrumor's site design!

spymac seems to be a site dedicated to opinions with no "inside sources" to back it up. This is likely no different than the iWalk photos and movies, except easier to fake.

on top of dock

why is it floating on top of the dock?? my cpu monitor always goes under the dock. Looks fishy to me.

on top of dock

I f you select Toggle Floating Window it floats - looking at mine right now.
And yes, 4 sounds right for a quad mac.

Because a quad would seem more realistic than jumping to 8 processors. Don't get me wrong, quad systems may be a reality in the future, but I don't think this spymac thing is real.

Poor Fake.

For those of you with dual processor macs open up CPU monitor and start one quicktime movie playing... what do you notice? ***Both bars jump up to the same level!*** In the spymac video only *ONE* bar jumps. OS X does not distribute CPU load like that. it's equally balanced. My analysis, the movie is a fake.

Quad Processor Macs...

uh oh!! looks like SpyMac is up to it's doings again!!

this does look very cool and interesting though....I wonder if it is true?

there's been lots of speculation about Quad processor Macs....I think there's definitely something going on behind closed doors.... ;)

Why aren't the movies playing?

It seems like the movies are just open. Shouldn't the little play button turn into a pause button when the movies are playing?

I'm curious because of the new apollo chips and their supposedly new ddr memory or some sort, maybe quads are now a viable solution. I hope it's not true, because I might be tempted to get a quad 1.2 GHZ G4 machine rather then a G5..hehe

heh, yeah, if the movies were all playing there should be a pause button rather than play. noob fakes

totally fake video

As I posted on spymac...
This movie is a fake...you can't have the cpu monitor window hover OVER the dock in OSX and have the dock effects occur underneath. I just did it with OSX and it doesn't work like they show in the Quicktime. The dock will always cover any window that you slide near it.
Nice try...NOT!
And...
Again...if you watch the video you will see the About CPU monitor window hover UNDER the dock but not the little window with the 4 bars simulating processor action. Another question...why is the video at 7.67 FPS......to keep the fake processor bars appear real? Fake. That one was easy to debunk.

I'm sure that people with OSX know what I'm talking about.

Yep, I'm afraid I'm inclined to believe it's fake. How about some more evidence, like opening up the frigging case? I'd love to believe it, but...

can someoen please..

can someone please send me the movie of this quad machine to sev_@mac.com .. . icant d/l it from spymac.com.. also if you can send the pcitures of the machine i'de really appreciate it .. THNXS!

Has anyone got the picture? If so can they get it up on a site, so we can all see it and pass judgement...

Not bothered about the movie

Roots of the Rumor

There was a photo out ealier that showed a mystery box running apparently quad processors.

So SpyMac.com had some free time and made a faked up movie based on the previous fake quad mystery box photo since it seemed to garner a lot of attention.

Ignore it, its just a hit pumping ploy. Much like Dvorak articles.

Argh

I don't think there's any reason at all to believe anything from SpyMac, and to judge from the replies here, I don't think anyone does. If that site had any credibility, it's shot to hell now. My own suggestion is that we all play the "ignore him and he'll go away" game. Personally, I'd rather Macrumors didn't even bring that guy's pathetic plays for attention into my scope of consciousness. I don't go to his site for a reason, and I'd rather the mountain didn't come to Mohammed, so to speak.

again....

this is why these sites are called "rumor" sites....nobody can be certain if any of the information should be taken literally or not....

just look at all of the info and take it all in.....then make judgements for yourself once u have seen a lot....not just from SpyMac....

Daystar 4 processor Mac

http://www.lowendmac.com/daystar/genesis.html

The year: 1996. The machine: Daystar Genesis 800 with four 604e processors. The price: 12,000 USD. Time in production: less than a year. Long enough for some idiot at the retouching shop I worked at at the time to convince the general manager to buy one. It sucked. This spymac picture looks suspiciously like the old Daystar. SpyMac wouldn't get something wrong, would they? Actually, do they get anything right?

Hopefully a G4 OS X power multi would be great...the Daystar was a joke in the shop especially when it had more downtime than a Yugo and the PowerTower w/ one processor running at 750mhz ran rings around it repeatedly even in Photoshop. It was great listening to the guy who bought it attempt to put a good spin on it. Wow, that machine sucked.

Why does everyone seem to think that multi-multiprocessor machines are some unheard of dream? We had 4 processors in 1996. And why does anyone even believe a single thing that Spimac.com posts? They are unreliable liars.

What kind of machine is the "PowerTower" you speak of? I came onto the Mac scene after the clones were killed off, and 300Mhz was the fastest PowerPC there was then. In fact, I don't think Intel/AMD were much faster.

In other words, I believe your claim of a 750Mhz machine is wrong. (or am I missing something here?)

fooy on spymac

After seeing that video and tearing it a new one I have decided not to visit that site any longer. First the iwalk video now this. It's all crap on that site.
