Valid point, and don't take my response as a way of saying "get out of this thread". Viewpoints from all sides make this site great. I will say never makes sense to me when people who are on their way out / or not even part of an ecosystem, chime in on something that has nothing to do with their use, or devices. Clearly you are still interested in what is going on at Apple.
On the legal side, Is there any proof that Apple or Intel are colluding to steal information from Qualcomm, or, is it simply a legal tactic Qualcomm is using in their case against apple? Also, where is Apple charging more? For consumers, phones with Qualcomm cost exactly the same as Intel phones do. We also don't know what Apple has to pay Intel for their chips. For all we know they agreed to pay Intel the same prices.
With regards to modem speeds / benchmarks, You said you moved to the V30 for your daily driver from your 7, in a thread mainly covering modem speed differences between Intel and Qualcomm. I don't buy your claim that you don't care about those benchmarks, and it is absolutely fine if they are important to you.
We 100% agree about being in many ecosystems, Like you I daily drive Android and iOS, in addition to OS X, Linux, BSD, and Windows. I find it fun to be within all of these respective ecosystems, and, find some are better then others, for various reasons.
The reason why benchmark matters little in this situation is because I'm aware of the way android runs. I've also got ways through developer options should the need arise for it.
My biggest issue is not the processor. My device can be super fast but if I can't get data or calls in my own bedroom? That speed becomes irrelevant. It's like having a fast engine with a slipping transmission. Troublesome.
I think we miscommunicated. I care about data speed benchmarks, yes. It's been consistently lower on my 7 Plus. Could it be better on the 8/8+/X? Yes, it's highly possible. However I also wanted a device with band 71.
I'm merely pointing out how my experience has been. The Verizon model X seems to be in demand too. If not just for the Qualcomm but the simple fact that it works with three (4?) carriers. That's my biggest frustration with the fragmentation.
If they are paying Intel the same, why the big hassle? That isn't logical from the argument that Qualcomm is asking too much. On the proof of Intel getting Qualcomm information, they've already admitted that the engineers have access to both. Now it's not my place to agree or disagree on if they've committed any wrongdoing. That's for the courts and lawyers to lay out evidence upon. I do think if suddenly Intel has similar technology it's more than coincidence but that's conjecture.
This is all just my opinions. Two cents. I'm going to watch how this all plays out in the long run.
