iPhone Question about jailbreaking iOS 8.1

Something is not right with your computer then.
My iPhone backs up to my iTunes library within minutes.

I'd recommend to try iCloud again. Just turn off items you don't need. But I assume large portion would be camera roll. Just manually copy to computer.
I switched to my desktop, I was working on my laptop prior. Just backed everything up and only took minutes, restoring now. Doing it the right way.

Yes, I know the downloading of ios 8.1 is the one that takes the longest.

One last thing: Do I also have to restore the backup after JB before I launch Cydia?

I usually restore my backup before the JB.
Then once everything is installed/synced back to the phone then I JB.
But you can do it either way now.
The pangu JB tool and cydia installer has been updated to work fine either way.
It was an big bug in Cydia 1.1.14 and 1.1.15 on iOS 8: if you used "restore from backup" in iTunes after your first use of Cydia, you needed to reinstall this package to make sure your device could safely reboot with a passcode enabled.
It should now be OK to use the iTunes "restore from backup" feature without needing to then reinstall Cydia Installer afterward to avoid reboot problems.

If I restore my phone as new, then jb, then restore from backup, will my phone still have the jb on it? Wouldn't that erase the jb?
Why is that though? Can we restore, then backup from iCloud at least or would problems arise still?
Restore in this case means restore iOS 8.1 from iTunes, then yes, you can restore your backup (from icon or iTunes)
So I finally installed the JB successfully and have to admit that my phone is officially awesome. Why didn't I JB sooner with other devices? These tweaks are so fun.
