Everything in the world is subjective. But that's not a useful way of looking at things though is it?

You could debate me to the death about whether the sky is in fact "blue" vs. "aquamarine" or "teal" or "cyan."

But the general consensus is still that the sky is indeed "blue." Just like the general consensus is that the iPhone 6+ is indeed a "phablet."

I agree, so we should just call it blue, that is, phone.

And as I said earlier, I think Apple probably considers the iPhone 6+ a "phablet" in their inner circle even though Apple doesnt call it a phablet. They know people will probably use it like a tablet as evidenced by the fact that they included the split screen iPad interface in many apps on the 6+ and not the 6.

Not to mention the fact that they didn't even make a serious effort to improve the iPad Mini this year. Is it a coincidence that the year they release a "phablet" they don't bother beefing up their small tablet line, when the previous year it was on par with their flagship?

Let's not forget the original mini was basically an iPad 2. It shouldn't be a shocker they neglected the mini again.

To me it seems like they were just testing the waters with the first one. But then they went all in with the second and made it a toe-to-toe match with the most powerful full-sized iPad they had ever made. Then they made a "phablet"...

Everyone and their grandaddy on this site called the Note a phablet. By those rules, so is the 6 plus.

Does it matter? Eh, not to me.

That was when the note was huge. Now it looks normal, at least next to my sweet iPHONE 6+. Notice they didn't name it the iPhablet. ;) Really, it doesn't matter, if someone wants to call my awesome iDevice a phablet more power to them.

Did the iPhone stop being a smartphone when such devices became common? I've always thought the term "phablet" is idiotic, but if it applies to the Note, it applies to the 6+.

Size between a phone and a tablet = Phablet
Size between a phone and a phablet = phophablet

Imho my iPhone 6 isn't anywhere near a phablet. In all fairness only one company makes a viable phablet anyway, wouldn't dare mention that companies name with the apple sharks around.

No.
The iPhone 6 Plus is a phablet for it's size, but as far as functionality goes it's just a large smartphone. Note series is a phablet, you get lots of extra functionality over just having a larger screen (S Pen, multitasking etc.)

No, "WE ALL" don't know the 6 + is a phablet. I don't see it as a phablet at all. I just love when people use WE.

How about you just relax? This isn't a big deal.

Anything larger than 5" is typically considered a phablet. Anything under that is typically considered a smartphone, seeing as how for most people, <5" can still be reasonably used with one hand.

You can use your lame eyeroll smileys and your sassy, "SARCASM IS A SECOND LANGUAGE TO ME LOL" tone all you'd like, but it's a very reasonable assumption to make and anything else is just you being contrary.

I guess it really depends on what people use their phones or tablets to "function" for.
Many used to call the iPad a very "blown up iPhone", and now many have changed their opinion of that.
The iPad is a tablet, yet I don't use my iPad for anything other than browsing, some gaming, or media. A large phone can still constitute as a "phablet" for my uses and for others, just depending. The iPad does not have an S Pen or the Android side multitasking, so its a tablet based upon size and apps designed for it. There are apps designed for the real estate of the 6+, and that can also give it proper function as time goes by.

From a mobile gaming perspective, the 6 Plus is supposedly a better option, performance and GPU wise, so that would give it the nod for function in that department.

No, the iPhone 6 is not a phablet or now 70% or so of devices on the market would have to be included in this category. My definition of 'phablet' is a phone that is very close in size to a tablet and the 6 is not close enough for this label in my opinion. The 6 Plus on the other hand is close enough to the iPad Mini and suits this term. :)

That's what constitutes a phablet... the S pen? Are you aware you can get a stylus at your local dollar store?

No, the key phrase was you get lots of extra functionality over just having a larger screen.

For example, if the iPad ran the exact iPhone OS 8 with iPhone apps only, would it be a tablet? Yes for size, no for functionality. Same for a phablet.
