Volume rocker...

Good point. Forgot that it was supposed to be the casing rather than the whole thing.

What's the point of opening another thread?

Well I don't know about everybody else, but I don't bounce around from forum to forum. Most of the time I spend on MR is between here and the Community Discussion. If this thread wasn't opened I probably wouldn't have seen this.

Is it really that troublesome for you?

Yes, for the volume up/down rocker switch. If yours doesn't, I think you may have a fake.

I call yours fake. They forgot to put in the switch.

First off, it's supposedly a picture of the next-gen phone, it's not going to have the same rocker as the current or previous model. My 3G doesn't have the same switch as the first-gen iPhone.
Second, it's supposedly photos of the CASE, not the whole phone.

And, as someone pointed out in the MacRumors thread with these pictures, there's no space for the camera flash, which the next-gen phone supposedly will have, as there are things pointing to it in the OS 4.0 Beta. They're most likely fakes. Not the best ones, but certainly not terrible either.

Probably not real. I really hope the next iPhone has a camera flash, and I think the camera flash should be the Apple logo on the back. Wouldn't that be sick????

Why would Apple change the aesthetic look of iPhone after 3 generations without any added benefit for making the change?

Fake me thinks

Ive worked in 3D for a number of years and the image strikes me as rendered and with radiosity at that. The images look compressed and have a spotty look to them. Firstly thats not how compression works, it doesnt take points and radiate out like that. Rendering with radiosity does, it looks like its been set to a low rays per pixel setting (different app call it different things but I think thats what Lightwave used to call it). Anyway you get a very similar image to the one provided.

So I think fake because not only could I produce the same image in Lightwave but I could also produce the same characteristics of the lighting / rendering method.

People FAIL to realize that the case could have been taken with a iPhone 3G or something of that sorts. These are not high quality pictures so its not going to look perfect. Because one pictures has a spot on it and the other doesn't, does not mean the pictures are fake.

Nevertheless, I don't like the back casing. Oh well, MOST of us are going to have a case on it anyway. So, we won't be seeing it.

The screen looks bigger...well the case looks longer. A 3.7" screen perhaps?

its a shame someone photo shopped these pictures because they could actually be an unfinished blank but now we wont know until June......

I was all for having an aluminum design, but not if it looks like that. That thing is just ugly. I like this concept the most, just without the circle around the Apple logo, and none of those ugly colors like the pink, blue, green, etc.

I am not surpised by that design. A lot of phones on the market are being released right now as single piece aluminum. Take for example the htc desire, legend and Motorola devior. All 3 are single piece aluminum phones so it is no surprised apple is coping that design as the style is becoming popular again.

Yep, I remember all those fake, poorly photoshopped iPod Nanos and Mac Minis as well. These may very well be real, or could be an early version.

Manufacturing The iPhone Rear Shell- Next Gen

Good Day Forum,

I work in manufacturing engineering...

Looking at these pictures i think it is possible to produce an iPhone like this using CNC machining...

However i am not sure what to think about dock connecter port  ... The image shows it having 90 deg corners which is quite difficult to achieve using a CNC milling machine... This would require some sort of laser cutting manufacturing proces... which they probably used...

The silent lock switch and the volume button show the corners having a radius of about 0.5mm... this is achieved using a 1mm cutter.

Though this may look like renders... it is still possible to generate a product like this...

If you look closely to all of Apples product... they pay EXTREME  attention to DETAIL... This does not look like something apple would produce.
The "bevel" at the back.... is a No No for apple... they like to make it look smooth and shell like all over...

However i could be wrong... :(

Many Thanks for you time.
 :apple:

I can generate an iPod Touch first generation using CAD and save the file as a 3D file and upload this to photoshop to render and add text and texture...

They fake! The next iPhone will be the same as the 3gs just in all the colours apple knows best. Give choice people will upgrade and buy more. They proved it with the iPods time and time again why not the iPhone too.
