The benefit would be, that Apple is indeed getting ready to launch their new iPhone and people with iPhone 4's and other devices know to wait around for its launch rather than buying a competitor's device like the S3.. Yet not too much has been leaked.
I don't know what to make of all this. I just can't believe that Apple wouldn't react in some way if these renders are indeed accurate...Not a single cease & desist , not one letter from a lawyer, NOTHING. But equally as weird is the fact that we haven't seen one single leak to suggest another device is in the works.
All I know is that this keynote is going to be the most anticipated Apple announce since 07.
I will be shocked if apple reveals a phone that looks exactly like these rumored renders. And equally as shocked if they reveal something totally different.
This announce is going to reveal a whole lot about Tim Cook and the way he operates. I know everyone is putting too much into his "doubling down on secrecy" statement, BUT unfortunatley for Tim, it's going to be a statement that defines him after September. Either he'll be a genius, OR he'll be considered a joke for letting the iPhone leak so complete and so early.

I'm sorry, I just don't get it. Did literally everyone forget that the iPhone leaks every year? I'm extremely confused. Literally, every year.
I can understand not wanting these leaked parts to be the real thing, but come on. It happened when Steve was alive and it's still happening.
I can't tell if people are in extreme denial or are just extremely blind.

Who cares?? You're speculating that the "leak" is in fact the new phone. Others are speculating its not.
Neither is right, neither is wrong at this point because nothing has officially been announced.
I don't think anyone should care, because the leaks don't really matter.
Photos of prototypes leak in all industries everyday. Some Apple customers seem to take it more personally.
If some Chinese kid slips a iPhone transistor out of Foxconn, how are any of us affected other than seeing some nifty pics on the internet?

Also, the OP is simply stating "how much" has been leaked so far, not that it has been leaked like every other iPhone in the past.
I've been thinking about it more lately too! Seems we have new pictures every week now and sometimes a couple a week! The leaks are definatley more prevalent this time around than in the past. I've been following this stuff from day 1 and I feel the same OP.
Now what's going to be funny (or frustrating) is when they show the new iPhone and it's completely different and all the folks that hated the leaked designs will be complaining "I wish we had gotten the leaked phone rather than this redesign", lol. It never ends.

It hasn't been announced, but it's still official.
Just because nothing else has popped up doesn't mean something else isn't being produced as we post.

But honestly hype for the new iPhone, really any Apple product is ridiculously high.
Blogs feel they need to post EVERY single news...so we end up with tons of half baked random rumors then we gradually get more realistic leaks and eventually the whole thing gets leaked before it gets announced. lol

I know iPhone parts leak. But NEVER since 07 (and excluding gizmodo and the bar phone) has the iPhone leaked so complete and so early. This 4" stretched design has been around for a few months now. Not saying its not correct..just saying this year is much different then all previous years. And apples handling of leaks is also much different this year. Especially when you have photos of the complete phone all over the place.
I don't disagree. I'm just addressing OP's arguments about "doubling down." there is nothing that strictly requires the leaked information to have been the result of a secrecy failure. It could all plausibly due to controlled leaks. In fact, if we believe that Tim Cook has made good on his promise, then we must accept that most of these are controlled leaks. But I don't know (and frankly I don't care much). I'm just pointing out that none of us knows anything, and it would be silly to come to conclusions based on pure speculation.
That's an oxymoron. It's NOT official, yet, because it hasn't been announced. How on earth can you say it's official? Do you have inside info of the new iPhone? No? Ok then. I'm not saying you're wrong, but everyone on this forum thinks they know everything but in reality the only information about the new iPhone that you have are the impressions you get when reading countless articles and posts on a phone that hasn't been released yet.
well, i think the leaks have been excessive this time around as well. my guess is that Steve Jobs had a rather "larger than life" personality and, having been known to go off the handle on many occasions, was somewhat feared. Tim Cook doesn't command the same sense of fear and respect.
In the grand scheme of things, I think SJ was prolly given too much credit and was bigger than life allowing every success to be attached to him, whether it was justified or not
On the other hand, TC will never be given any credit and will always have any and every negative association attached to him and compared to SJ in the "if Steve were still here..." kind of way
