So i called att And they really did try to help... the guy tried to provision my account for mms. I am on the normal text plan (not iphone) and have my sim in a palm centro. The guy said it was conflicting with my iphone data plan and that he couldnt get it provisioned. I know other people have had success so what exactly do I say?

mms now works, but the voicemail settings are gone

Yeah, but if you use that person's .ipcc file, he already configured it. You can test visual voice mail to see if it works by calling yourself and leave a message or have someone call you and leave a voice mail.

The moment I removed MMS, VM & tethering came back. I give up! Since MMS will be free in a few months, I'll just wait. Tethering is not free so I am happy to have that, until the jailbreak come out.:D I just hope AT&T MMS won't kill my tethering.

can someone tell me how to use the file from that link. it shows up as the lego icon

thanks

Download it using Firefox
The file should end with ".ipcc" when you download it.
Safari automatically converts it to something else.

Quick update: MMS & Tethering working

My steps:
1. Updated my carrier file to AT&T 5.0
2. Rebooted my phone (allowed me to get MMS options in 3.0 firmware)
3. Followed steps 5&6 from here
4. Followed these steps
5. Be advised that once I switched my SIM to the other AT&T phone it took ~10 min for the website to update and give me new messaging options for my plan besides the iPhone one.
6. After switching my messaging plan to the non-iPhone plan I waited another 10 min for the changes to kick in.

7. MMS

Did you make a call or send a txt msg using the other AT&T phone (non-iPhone)? I actually forced the new phone on the myWireless website by clicking the "Not my phone/device?" link.

The important key IMO is getting the following to show up on your AT&T account under "Manage Features"

Since the steps always seem to require a non-Apple AT&T phone, will an AT&T GoPhone work?

I don't see why a GoPhone would not work. Basically all you want to do is get the option (shown above) to show up under your account on the AT&T website.

Just to be clear, you DO NOT[b/] want to change your data or phone package. All you need to switch is your messaging package to a NON-iPhone one.
