When Adobe pulls their thumb out their ass and makes a decent version of Flash Player for OS X.

Second that.

Flash on Mac really sucks! My old PC running AMD 2.0G dual core with an old nVidia video card 7600GT, the CPU usage is less than 10% when playing YouTube. On the latest MBP, it's more than 60%.

yeah flash performance on any platform other then windows really sucks.

I found this article interesting. Maybe Flash is slow for a reason :)

from the read:
"With the iPhone, Apple did something parallel to Flash: it similarly refused to support video playback of Flash movies, officially citing that this was only because Flash, now owned by Adobe, didn't work well enough to include it. While that was true, the real reason for killing Flash on the iPhone was to push web developers back toward publishing standard video formats rather that wrapping their video content up in a proprietary Flash binary."

apple wants Flash to die, so it makes sense that they do not support it in their OS.

Please, enough about MS vs Apple and MS did blah and Apple did blah...
both companies are SOB (and not to be sexist DOBs) / bastards in their own right.

(Full disclosure: 1 MBP, 1 MB, 2 PCs, 1 acer w/ Vista, 1 iphone, 1 Nokia 5800... and totally unrelated, one Fender Strat ;) )

Back to the OP's battery life question... If you're getting 5 hours of use out of a 13", that may not be that unusual. There are a few thing you can check.

As mentioned above, use Activity Monitor to sort by CPU usage, then leave it open for awhile under normal usage conditions. See if anything is spiking your processor usage while you work.

Also, sort by kind and make sure they are all Intel processes, and you don't have any PowerPC threads running that would have to run in Rosetta.

Turn Bluetooth off if you're not using it. Also, if you are a long way away from your wireless router, your airport card will work harder and eat battery faster. If none of that helps, I'm not sure what else to tell you to try.

A little more info on this please, new to Macs, dont have much of an idea on what the above means.

BT is off, and about 10 feet from my wireless router.. no walls or anything in between.
