That's because Apple has become the iron fist their early adverts parodied...they are jackboot fascists who want to control everything for no good reason except that they can. The fanboys are their Apple youth 'blackshirt' army who try and indoctrinate people and so welcome to 1984....

LOL! Laughable!

Obviously you have no respect for consistent interface and stability. Instead of calling Apple a bunch of "jackboot fascists" maybe you should take a lesson from them as to what consumers want. It's obvious the "Jackpots" must know something... they have more successes and have improved more technology over the past 10 years than any other computer company.

Besides the minority group that likes to hack everything, there obviously is a majority that enjoy some boundaries so our devices just work.

I hate the clunky virtual button in Camera app

I can't stand touching the screen to take a pic.... wish Apple had designed the built-in Camera app to use a dedicated hardware button. I find it especially clunky when using the front camera.

This sounds like a very cool app, and having actual buttons to push to take a picture on the iphone would be sweet. While I do drink from the holy grail of Apple, this is something they need to approve or incorporate in the next version of iOS

I purchased this application and can not figure out how to get the volume button to take pictures.
There is no settings menu and it simply doesnt work as advertised.

I agree! Having a dedicated button would be nice. Come on, aren't we always going to have a camera function on our smartphones, it deserves a button.

You have to touch the right side of the screen in the black area for about 2 seconds until a green light comes on... then it works... sometimes. :D

Glad I'm not the only one who can't figure that out. Any help on this would be very much appreciated (even if it's sort of a crappy app)

It doesn't sound like it was a great app from what I've read and I think most people thought it would be pulled.

Until next time (app)......

Apple's rules are pretty clear. I'm surprised it was up for this long.

It's a little ironic that Apple prohibits app developers from reassigning hardware buttons when they've done it with the iPad's Mute/orientation lock switch several times now.

They've done it exactly once since the iPad was officially released, when they released the iOS 4.2 upgrade.

What annoys me is that Apple will allow this functionality in future version of their camera app and make it seem like it's this new and innovative feature they came up with.

Doubtful. What we may see is for them to include a dedicated camera button or a button that is reassignable depending on the app that is running.

Do you feel better now? I don't know how people like you make it through life without blowing a gasket. Try directing that ire towards something that will actually make a positive difference in your and the people you love's lives.

No big loss - it was kind of a crap, buggy little app anyway.

Agreed. I'm just mad I wasted $1.99 on it.

The message right below yours shows how to do this but I wanted to chime in by saying that it is the most ridiculous way to activate a feature that I've seen so far in any app. And the only way to find out is to look at the app images in iTunes.

I also wanted to say that this app functions worse than just about any app I've purchased thus far and I've downloaded 480 over the past two years or so. The hardware shutter button is the only reason I purchased it and it works so poorly that it makes the app useless.

I'm suprised it took this long to remove it. I thought Apple was usually pretty quick on these things.

Holiday Blackout. If it didn't cause the store to crash, it was not going to be touched. Not uncommon, really.

You can get refunds from the App store - vote with your dollars by asking for them back.

Slightly out of date - http://www.knowyourcell.com/apple/a..._get_a_refund_for_an_iphone_app_purchase.html

But basically - iTunes Store, Account, Purchase History, Report a Problem.

Did that and it says that they are unable to provide support and it directs me to the developer's facebook page. There is no option to simply ask for a refund.

Well, I didn't purchase Quick Snap - and any other item I've purchased and paid for I'm not about to go and file a false report-a-problem report on, but after hitting the big "report a problem" button, and then clicking on the link next to sent me to the form in iTunes where I could choose the "Did not function as expected" choice from the drop down menu.

You are correct. I did exactly that and then typed a description of why it did not function as expected. When I clicked Submit it gave me the message about Apple not being able to help with support issues and the link to the developer's facebook page.

Woo!

I was nice and Apple is giving me a refund for the crappy app. I could never get the Easter Egg to even activate. Even if it were just a camera with no hidden controls, the app is horrible.

I'm curious, what do you mean when you say you were nice? Also, how do you know they are giving you a refund? Did you follow the same steps we've been discussing?

The app was terrible so glad it was pulled. But I will still long for the volume button shutter, and I care not for the naysayers. I'm yet to be shown how I can take a landscape shot comfortably with one hand (just like you would with any other digital camera) using the screen button. And spare me the consistency debate. Sure if it was a built-in default feature, that might confuse people. But make it an opt in preference that the user would have to knowingly enable, every single user would be happy. You can apply that rule to all apps for all I care, the only people bothered by it are going to be the 'won't somebody think of the children' folk out there who like to tell everybody what to do. (You know who you are.) ;)

The ultimate irony is most of the slavering fanboys weren't even around in 1984.

UnSnap

I bought it. It's nothing very useful. A bug immediately shows up the first time you fire it up. You MUST restart your iPhone to get rid of the bug, but it will drive you nuts at first.

Ho Hum.

Too bad there's no such thing as a used market for lousy apps.
