A QuickTime stream of Apple's iPhone 3.0 media event has been posted. The event revealed a massive list of new features for developers and end-users which we summarized in a previous post.

The iPhone 3.0 software will be available to existing iPhone and iPod Touch users in the summer. Meanwhile, a beta version of the software is available to registered developers starting today.

Since everyone is gonna be trying to watch this, the stream will be really slow. Does anyone know how to get the direct download link?

I can't even run it right now. It doesn't stream after 3 seconds. Anyone having similar problems?

It's working fine here. I'm sure they'll release this via Apple's Keynote podcast, but it would be nice to get a direct link to the HD video file once they post it.

Okay, why do these never work for me!

I have NEVER gotten one of these apple.com-hosted videos to play on my computer.

I'm using a MACBOOK PRO 10.5 with SAFARI and QUICKTIME and for some reason it just says "connecting" and never plays.

It even plays just fine on my ipod touch... but not my $2k+ computer?

I've been meaning to join the developer program. Does anyone know if joining allows you to put 3.0 on to your handset, or only view it in the testing emulator?

@gotohamish

It allows you to run 3.0 on like 6 devices i think...
And allows you to publish preview versions of apps up to 100 test phones without the app store.

Yes it does but.......Updating devices to iPhone OS 3.0 beta software. By installing iPhone OS 3.0 beta software on your Authorized Test Devices, these Devices are permanently “locked” into testing mode and cannot be restored to earlier versions of iPhone OS.

Apple really listened for the most part, more to come in the summer with the new iphone.

Scott: "Suppose you have 2 kids in the back seat both with iPhones and they want to play backammon"

Haha, Apple, you'd love that eh??

Steve Forstall really does a great Steve Jobs impression.. especially the bit where he explains the turn-by-turn mapping.. hahaha

woah, I don't want my iPhone taking my BP...

Also, I hope "this summer" doesn't mean September 2009 haha.

Yeah, I saw that too. What exactly is the testing mode? Is the iPhone fully functional, or will some aspects not work in testing mode?

I ended up streaming it using VLC, but it only got through about 10 minutes. The servers must be getting pounded right now.

That's the first thing I noticed - how the first presenter was SERIOUSLY trying to speak, move and act ike Jobs.

Anyone else notice this?
