already leaked

i think he means WORKING ones

btw, new imac image has slightly newer drivers (thanks cpn chunk) but still a no go

it befuddles me that a Hack running OSX can have this work perfectly but not on a real Mac.

perhaps has something to do with when card gets inited?

So close, and yet so F\far

it was my understanding that the drivers are fully functional but problem with aty init leads to driver not connecting properly

rommy....... look at my email

I couldn't even get my hackintosh to work with my 5970 - kept getting kernel panics at boot. I didn't try for long though since I had work to do so I reloaded the mac mini ones.

Unplugging the display and plugging it back in sorts it right out but another workaround I've found is that it does initialise the screen if the screen goes to sleep so for now I've got my screen sleep time set to one minute so all I have to do is wait one minute after booting up and then I can use it.

I have the same problem. Hot-corner for sleeping the display is faster than waiting 1 min for the screen saver :)

Sorry if I'm being dense, but do you have any idea how to go about initializing the new drivers on a 'genuine' Mac? I've been searching all over but the only reasonable answer I can find is reflashing, while I've read some reports of people running it without doing so (on a non-hack).

Ha, that is a good idea. Alas I already use all my corners and don't really want to reset them to something else. I did try briefly looking for a way to put the screen to sleep with a terminal command but alas I could find nothing.

It's currently not possible. Poor Rominator has been banging his head against a wall for the past few weeks trying to get 5xxx series working on genuine macs. Unfortunately it looks like genuine Mac Pro users will have to wait for the BIOS files to leak. That should start pretty soon though. Once the iMac's 5670 and 5750 rom files get leaked by some willing donors then EFI enabled ROM files with which to flash 5xxx series PC cards should be just around the corner.

Ah, thanks for your eloquent response, Spanky. I guess I'll have to wait :)

Graphics update

There is currently a seed of a "Snow Leopard Graphics Update" available on ADC right now that has new ATI driver kexts in it, as well as a new OpenGL / OpenCL framework, it would appear:
