Include me and my northern Michigan store on the list of those that got hosed.

I just called my store ( I am #2 on the list with a confirmed pin for a 32GB black ) and they are not getting any 32GB phones and a very limited number of 16GB phones. AND... I can't swap into a 16GB.

You know... I kinda thought the lack of lines was "too good to be true" - turns out it was.

The lack of lines are due to the fact that most people know Radio Shack to be a terrible retailer, and had no faith in their ability to deliver on their promises.

I'm not trying to rub it in, I swear. Just remember this in the future.

Despite the fact that my friend is a great guy and runs his store well, Radio Shack in general is a really crappy company, and I don't do business with them as a rule.

I didn't get a PIN on the 15th, and I am #3 on the waiting list currently. They said that they may get a delivery in next week, and I should be able to get my phone then. However, I am going to check the other locations in town tomorrow to see if they have any unalocated phones, but I'm not putting my money on it. I can't wait to get it.

Alright, to the people who didn't get one, I feel your pain and I hope you get one soon, but I have to post my experience at RS: hey, I got one!

I was #11 on the list for a store in the DC area, so can you guess how many phones this RS got?? A grand total of four!

Apparently a lot of people ahead of me must not have been able to make it that morning, or they canceled or whatever, but I just couldn't believe my luck to actually get one. I got the last iPhone 4 they had. BTW, did I mention I didn't even get a PIN when I pre-ordered?

I got a call about 9 this morning from the RS here. I was asleep as I was up until 4 reviewing for a final. I tried calling them back for about 20 minutes. from 9:40 on. Once 10:00 hit, instead of answering the phone, it started the old 56K modem tones. I finally got through and told them I had missed a call. The dude knew nothing about it and had to ask his supervisor. She said they're expecting a shipment of phones next week(?) and mine will be in then.

I was #12 on the list but at least 2 people ahead of me wanted white phones and a few more were using RS as a last resort.

I was first in line to preorder at Radioshack in NOVA area mall. The preorder never went through but the guy took all my info. I talked to the sales guy yesterday and he got the manager to hold a 32 gig for me to pick up today before noon. Their store only received 5 phones. I was there at 9:40 today, 15 minutes later I traded in my old 3G and had my new phone making calls. This was by far my easiest iPhone launch day purchase. I feel bad for everybody else but Im very satisfied with the Shack!

I'm not upset with them by any means. The trade-in deal is more than enough incentive for me to wait one more week to get the phone. I'm just surprised that they're getting another shipment next week.

Don't be surprised if next week comes and they do not receive a shipment.

Ann Arbor, MI Resident here.

My local Radio Shack opened at 9:30 AM, after previously talking with an associate there last night, I figured I should get there early just in case. I show up at 5AM, and enjoy tunes from my 3G x Dre headphones.

I end up being #1, in a line that grew to about 11-12 people by 9AM. The Radio Shack associates showed up to open the store and shortly came back out to inform the line that only 1 16GB iPhone will be available to the general public today (my insides leaped with joy). Everyone else had to sign up for to be notified when the next shipment. I'm assuming the other 4 that they received were ALL preordered/reserved by these two men who came together.

I was thankful because I didn't pre-order or anything. I just simply showed up earlier than anyone else and was also able to avoid the havoc of the Apple Store. A Wal-Mart employee who was #3 in line, (Wal-Mart is right next door) stated that Wal-Mart received 1 iPhone 4 total and it sold out at exactly 6 AM.

Spoke to my store again this morning just to verify that I wasn't getting my pre-pinned 32GB ( they didn't get any 32GB ). He said this store only got 4 16GB, all were "preordered", and the store manager was told last night not to expect any shipments for 3-4 weeks....

I went into a radio shack in downtown Boston this morning at about 8:30 to buy a case for my iPhone 4 that was delivered yesterday. The only other people in the store were 2 people picking up their new iPhones. Seems like a calm and easy way to go compared with the Apple experience people are reporting.

They told me that about 50 people showed up on the 15th to preorder, but hey were only able to get 6 orders through, and only 4 devices showed up.

I 'preordered/reserved' whatever you want to call it, on the 15th. I was #1 on the list. Called the manager at the radio shack in Durham, NC, and he said they were expecting the shipment yesterday (23rd) evening, and would call me that evening to make arrangements to get it today. Well I got no call, so i call them this morning when they opened (at 10am) and still they say they havent gotten a shipment in, and no idea when it will be in.

So i decide to go over there at lunch, and the manager is no where to be seen, the employees there have no idea what is going on with the shipment, and im told to call later this afternoon to check. So i call at 2pm, and ask to speak to the manager. Im told he will be out till 5pm because he wasnt feeling well, and the girl on the phone told me that they usually get shipments around 4, and to call back then.

I decided to go with radio shack because of their trade in deal, and normally I would never do business with them. Im starting to remember why.

I didnt order through apple, and now I wish i had, because I would have had my phone yesterday. But now im stuck waiting until a) Radio Shack calls and says they have the phone in, or b) mid july when i can walk in and get one from the apple store.

Greeeeaat.

Or get in line at an AT&T store on Tuesday morning, which is what I am going to do....

I don't want to gloat or anything but I was one of the lucky ones with RS. I called on the 15th at like 11:00 and the lady took down my info to put the reservation into the system. I called back later that day and was told I had my pin and I would definitely be getting one. After I've been reading the horror stories of cancelled orders, inventory problems, etc, I called several times to confirm.

I found out that roughly out of 6-10 people that put in reservations through them, they received 1 16gb and 1 32gb and that I was the only one that reserved a 32gb, so that was mine.

I went in this morning with NO ONE in the store and activated the phone. Once activated and confirmed that my phone was working, I also wiped my 3g and traded that in and received the $100 off. I got a case with it since was free since there was a $20 accessory credit that I couldn't use against AppleCare.

The only negative was because I did an upgrade swap, the clerk killed my wife's SIM because they had to activate it under the phone number with the eligibility and so they deactivated my wife's SIM and put it as a microSIM. I had to go to the corporate store to get a new SIM and luckily, was able to walk right in and take care of that.

Now I'm rocking the new one and trying to sync all my items to my Macbook (converted from my desktop PC)

The general theme with the sucky Shack is that if you were #1 or #2 for a 16GB, you probably got a phone; otherwise, you took a swim in the crap pool... ;-)

Even after all this, there will be people giving reasons why Radio Shack is a good idea for the next launch.

Or even better, they will add another company by next year, and everyone will say how THAT company is a better choice for launch day.

Just watch.

Apparently if I would have been up at 9 and answered the phone, they would have had one for me. They got in 3 16Gb phones and I was #4. By the time I got them to answer my return call the other person had shown up. At least I know I'm the first on the list for the next round now.

There are a few RS in my area. The one I went to didn't get any and the others in my area only had enough for those that pre-ordered. They did tell me that they're buying (swapping) 3Gs' for $200, so if you can get a 16gb iPhone 4, then it's like an even trade.

Naturally this is useless if they have none to sell...

I was #1 for a 16gb and i got bent over like the fat guy in prison.

An update: Radio Shack just called me and are expecting an overnighted shipment of additional iPhones. He didn't think there were going to be any 32GB phones ( which is what I ordered ), but would give me a 16GB.

Guess we'll see what/if they actually get in this afternoon...

Update to the Update: my local store got 4 more in today, 2 which they had to send to another store. BUT... they did give me one of the remaining 2. It isn't a 32GB, but they also honor the 30-day return policy and I will swap out the 16 for the 32 if they get it in within 30 days...

for giggles i called my local RS.

they have 1 phone coming in..
for 1 person they will call on a list of 15

neat

haha

What kind of accessories do Radio Shack sell for the iPhone4?
Any chance they have Apple products like the dock?
