Radio Shack

I don't really have high expectations from my Radio Shack order, but i was the first to order at the store that I used. It is about 3 minutes from my job and I cannot wait in line anywhere earlier than about 8:30am. I also started a new job so I cannot really afford to miss a day to pick up a phone.

It was funny though. The woman taking my order was about 60 and she was slowly reading the instructions on how to take the pre-orders. If she knew what she was doing she could have done it all in about 5 min, but she took over 20 min to order the 2 phones and then charge me for the 2 $50 gift cards.

My plan is to swing by there at 8:55am just before they open and see what is up. If I am lucky i get it early that morning with no hassle. If i am not i can just go pick it up 3 min from work whenever it comes in.

There is nothing guaranteed about Radio Shack's preorders.

I just read the print out I got with my preorder and here is the rough synopsis:

There is no guarantee you will get your order in any specified period of time.
It specifically mentions that it may take "weeks" to arrive.
Once your phone does arrive, it is specifically yours for 3 days.
After 3 days it becomes regular inventory.
If you want to pick it up after 3 days, you can only get it out of regular inventory.
If you want to not pick it up at all, that is fine, but then you have a $50 non-refundable gift card.

That's about it.

cool,thanks for the info.I just called mine and they were already out any way.
 
Nor is there anything guaranteed with UPS or FEDEX delivery for Friday.

I preordered at my Radio Shack after not making it on Apple's website. Does anyone know if the stores get them ahead of time and hold them until Friday?
 
Last year I pre ordered and first thing launch day I stopped at the store and picked up my phone. It was a breeze. BUT. I just called my old faithful Radio Shack and was told they are not getting all the pre orders they may not even get a shipment for all carriers!!!!! This is bad news. I was the first to preorder at this RS so if a phone comes in from my carrier I have first choice. Good thing I ordered at Target too. Target says they should have my phone today. Whew

Sounds like the Verizon preorders through radioshack ship from the general verizon queue and not form radioshack inventory order. I hope it just means the verizon preorders are the ones not showing up.

Does anyone have any experience buying on launch day at Radio Shack? The sales woman at Radio Shack said that I was the first one to come in and pre-order at 10:45 am. I get in the area at about 8:50 am and they open at 9am, so i am planning on swinging by at opening regardless of whether i receive a call or not. The paperwork that i received clearly stated that i was not guaranteed to receive it on launch day and that they would be called by my local store when my phone came in. We'll see how it goes i suppose.

I had a somewhat similar situation for the ipad 2. It was sold out everywhere and there were big lines every morning at Apple Stores to try and get one. I literally walked into a target at 9:30am and picked up an ipad with zero wait or issues. It was the only one that they had received the night before.

Used to work at a radioshack, pretty much it depends on the store, but most get theres the day of, usually really early in the morning. If you pre ordered today or yesterday, theres a chance you may not get it September 21. You're best bet is to call them regularly because if someone who pre ordered the same model as you gets there earlier then you, they'll get it before you do, and you may be stuck waiting a few days.
 
I made a pre-order with Radioshack, and was promised to get the phone tomorrow. However, against promises, they did not call today and when I called them, they said they did not get in enough phones to fulfill my pre-order.

These are my options

1) Wait, and hope it arrives tomorrow. If it doesn't, then it will be hard to get it elsewhere, and I may have to wait weeks for the pre-order...

2) Dispute a refund of the gift card because they were giving me a promise even though the receipt does not indicate a guarantee, and buy it elsewhere (i.e. line in apple store).

What do you guys think?

Either wait or go wait in line.
 
Last year other Radio Shacks near by had phones and no pre orders. You may want to try other RS nearby
 
Just found out a local Fraternity is camping out at the Apple store and selling their spots for charity. $50 each and you just show up at 8am. Sounds like a deal to me.

Guess I have to eat crow! Yes I am in the south. RS just called. Old faithful came through. They have my IPHONE 5. Yippee
 
Just called my store and the guy who answered said he didn't think they got any yet. Then the typical if you paid the $50 then you will get it tomorrow :rolleyes:

i bet theres gonna be a line just to buy one of these spots...lol

Forgot which frat but it's FAU students in Boca Raton. You can call ahead and buy a spot. I'm sure it's sold out.
