They're already selling iPhones at this pathetic excuse for a store. I just don't get it. I have never had a good experience at a Radio Shack when buying anything more complicated than a handful of batteries.

Hey, they DID have some awesome universal remotes for $5. The good-quality ones that light up and everything, not the cheapo stuff.

...Aaand they don't carry any crystal oscillators, nor do they know what those are. I needed one to make a radio.

I bought a lightning cable from Radio Shack a couple of weeks ago. We went to a tiny beach town on the coast for the weekend... I forgot a charging cable for my iPhone... and the nearest Apple store or Best Buy was 90 minutes away.

I am on the road more days than I am at home... and before this trip... I had never left my cable behind... and I was glad (and amazed) that RS actually carried it.

I think this is the answer to those who are wondering why Radio Shack is still in business; they seem to be everywhere. The town I grew up in currently has a population of 12,000, but even since I was a little kid (when of course the population was a few thousand less) it's always had a Shack. Meanwhile, there's never been a Best Buy or Fry's or Circuit City in the entire county, much less an Apple store; heck, even the Target (in the county seat, over 20 minutes away) only came in in the last five years or so.

I currently live in a much larger city, but where else are my parents going to go if they need a new mouse or coaxial cable on the quick?

This.

Lots of smaller towns don't have a ton of big box stores, but they do have radio shacks.

Plus, RadioShack is the last brick and mortor retailer that still carries a good selection of base level electronic parts. And is totally great if you don't feel like waiting for an online order to arrive

Plus, any kind of adapter you can think of, they'll have it.

I don't think that will be enough to slow Radio Shack's downward spiral.

Remember the good ol' days?

Expand your mind...

...and your accessories.....

In much the here is Australia, Dick Smiths, is selling accessories, and have always been selling Mac's, theres a good deal, as they give can often give you a 10% discount.

Be good if RadiShack could do the same........ Otherwise, if the prices are the same, who cares how big it branches out.... there's no real advantage, apart from buying from more than one location.

Is this REALLY Page 1 news?

Radio Shack only exists in the US, and gazillions of other retailers already sell Apple accessories.

In other words, who cares?

By US only, you mean the US as we'll as Europe, South America and Africa?

And if course it's news, if your in need of an accessorie, and there isn't an Apple Store, staples, best buy ect. You can go there to get it.

You cared enough to comment .

If Apple.com, Amazon, and just about every other electronics retailers can ship accessories anywhere in the USA for free.... why do we need ANOTHER retailer?

So are you saying another is bad???
And maybe someone might want it NOW,not in a few days.
Is there anything people won't complain about?

In a way the computer retailing world has come full circle. I remember the mighty debates about the merits of the TRS-80 and the Apple II back in 1980 and spending a lot of time playing with the TRS-80 in a Radio Shack store in my hometown.

Hey, it's only 5 miles away, versus 15, for Best Buy, and 40 for Apple. I'll take it.

I think that's the whole point. I have a Rdio Shack two miles away and if I needed something that they sell, I would go there before BestBuy or Apple. I stopped going to the Apple store a few years ago when I had reserved an iPhone. Took me 45 minutes before I could pay for it and leave with their reservation system.
