I emailed Radtech about how this one is a tiny bit small to cover the keyboard and asked if the size for this model should be tweaked, so I'll see what they say.
Please keep us in the loop. My Radtech cover is a shade smaller than the keys on my 16” MBP.

Is this the only way to avoid what has happened to my two last MBPs? I have permanent marks on the screen from certain keys. I guess it gets a little compressed in my bag or when I am carrying it, pushing the lowest row of keys (from left command to cursor) onto my screen. I’m going to operate a better cleaning regime with my new 16. I’d rather not have a cloth in between, as it just doesn’t make sense to fit more in there if there is very little margin. I wonder if the new keyboard is closer to the closed screen?

I know of two ways:
  1. Use a hard case, which helps against pressure on the top of the laptop.
  2. Use a screen protector.
And to be honest, a hard case didn't help enough. And there aren't ready-made screen protectors yet. Ocushield has told me that they plan to release "early next year".

Since there aren't any ready-made screen protectors right now, I've ordered a custom one: 13.7" by 8.7" covers the screen and leaves an edge that's enough for the webcam, I mean(read in Jony Ive's voice) front-facing camera.

keep is updated! I just ordered one but I’m sure it will be too small like yours. Can always order custom I guess but you shouldn’t have to since this IS their 16” model.

Will do, I'll let you know what they say.

I did have another thought - since they can't do a full screen one due to the tightness of the display/body gap, I still worry about the trackpad edge leaving a mark on the screen - I wonder if it would be a good idea to get one custom sized to fit within the trackpad, which should provide just enough buffer against the lid squeezing against the trackpad edges? And it would sit in the trackpad, which is already a little recessed, so you might be able to have a microfiber in there that has just enough height to clear the trackpad edges, but not enough to cause difficulty closing the lid?

So Radtech told me that these keyboard protectors used to be just a little bit taller but it was causing overheating in clamshell mode since the computer uses the gaps around the keyboard to draw in air.

They also said these keyboard protectors actually require the keys to be slightly depressed when the lid is closed, and they said they do their testing using 40 lbs on the center of the display lid.

I asked about the trackpad and they said it's really not needed, that as long as there is something between the two rigid panels (top case and display) that the extra protection isn't/shouldn't be necessary so really just the keyboard protector should be fine to protect against trackpad marks. I get that, but the display isn't really rigid and certainly flexes under pressure. For me it's probably fine, my laptop rarely if ever leaves the house and the most squish it will get is from the sleeve.

But anyway I still would like the entire keyboard to be covered at least since I never use clamshell mode, so I went ahead just now and ordered a custom size, same width but 10.5 cm tall instead of 10.2 cm. I also put some notes in the order asking them to round off the corners since that other pic posted in this thread shows square cut corners on the custom size, so I'll see if they do that for me.

Received my custom order today, corners are not rounded. Have not had a chance to test fitment yet.

I've been using one of this cloths since my 13" uMB in late 2008.. been using the same one on a 13" MBA and then on a 13" rMBP. I've been thinking about using it on my 16", was doubtful about how it would fit but I think I'm going to use it and not order a new one. This one covers all the keyboard area and like two thirds of the trackpad.

Never have had any screen issues, apart from the infamous staingate issue in the 2014 model. Highly recommended.

report back with fitment. my full size one i had on my 2015 15" did NOT fit - did not allow the display to close.

This custom size seems to be the exact same dimensions as the 2012-2015 retina edition they sell. I see mixed reviews about people saying they can properly close their 16” or not with this. So it works?

I have one of those from my 2015" MBP and hung on to it when I sold the machine to someone else. I am concerned that it is significantly thicker than the ScreenSavrz that I have for my 12" MacBook or the keyboard-only ScreenSavrz that I am using on my 2018 MBP.....so have not tried it on my 2018 MBP. Like others, I do wish that they'd made the current keyboard-only version cover more of the keyboard, though, rather than having it be a bit too short......

Received my custom one today, the size is really nice, but it's clearly thicker than the one designed for the 16", so I won't be using it. I had requested they use the same material as the stock size for the 16", but this is definitely thicker like the material for the 2012-2015 models.

I also started thinking, sure this prevents key marks on the screen, but because it only covers the keyboard, any pressure on the lid while in a sleeve during transport or what have you can still depress the entire Radtech/keyboard, resulting in marks from the edges of the keyboard frame and trackpad, so that's sort of a bummer - don't have that problem with the full size Radtechs from the 2015 and older models.

So even if you have these keyboard covers, still be wary of pressure on the lid or you'll still get marks on the screen, they just won't be key marks.

Well I don't have the 16" MBP, but I've been using the 13" full size cloth(for the older 13" rMBP) on my 2018 15" without any problems. It covers basically from the top of the touchbar to the edge of the trackpad. I have no problems closing the lid as it doesn't come near the hinge.

I also have the keyboard only one made for the 2016 and later models, but I don't use it as I've had trackpad marks (outline of the trackpad) on my screen on my previous rMBPs and 2016 MBP. I didn't have the cloth at the time. The material on the full size one is slightly thicker as well compared to the keyboard only one.
