I was one as well to think that there was a hardware RAID on the motherboard. I read Intel's documentation and they consistently say software RAID.



Shiiiiite...could have sworn by the HW raid part..

But,are the lower end mobos (from intell and external manufacturers like nVida and ASUS) that advertize on having raids HW or SW ones then too?

It is a weird thing if they have a HW raids and the workstation class comps have suddenly software?

Just curious.

Certain motherboards do have RAID's that are handled by the chipsets but then managed by software.

Intel's Matrix Storage comes to mind.
