I have a Steel Series iOS controller and I have to say I prefer it massively over one that's connected to the devices physically. A stand alone controller is the best way to go IMO.

Except it just sits there because there aren't any games that interest me besides GTA that use it. :l

...that sounds like an awsome controller (there's a good review of it here : http://www.trustedreviews.com/steelseries-stratus_Games-Accessory_review), however, I can't justify paying the £60+ price tag  for a controller which only has limited games support.....!

Yeah it's an excellent controller, especially since it's less expensive than all the others.

But like I said, just one game doesn't justify it for me :l if I'd known how lackluster support truly was, I'd've skipped it.

Why release this now when everyone is waiting for iphone 6? Couldn't be worse timing of a mediocre product

iPhone 6 won't take out all the iPhone 5, 5s, and 5cs from the markets.
Why sell a product that is only going to apply to the early adopters of a new model, when you can release one that fits a whole group of currents?

Would be silly for them to not make a new version for the new phones when they release, though.

Someone just release a controller that is wireless. You know, so we don't have to buy new ones every time we buy a new iDevice...

The only issue I have with iOS peripherals. Because each generation is just one design, the add-ons are made around that design, so you're hosed when there's a new one. One reason I like the Moga Pivot.

Oh, good bloody god, I just watched the ad. Wow. It was excessively cheesy to the point that it went beyond being funny to just being cheesy again, and it could not have focused on the product less. If you haven't subject your ears and eyes to the horror that is the Junglecat ad, I suggest you count your blessings and avoid it.

A bit disappointing the number of games and controllers to date, I'd have thought there'd have been many more by this time. I've even bought games anticipating a good controller being available, and I've waited to purchase GTA simply because I don't yet have a controller and that seems like a must-have to play (properly to maximum fun).

A possible answer to your question is that they had this in development for a while. If the product was only ready, now, it is perfectly reasonable to relase it, now. Even though the iPhone 6 is going to be released later this year, that doesn't mean the millions of iPone 5/5S/5C owners are suddenly going to disappear. Most people don't buy a new phone every year. I'm sure Razer will make iPhone 6 versions of this once they have the actual size specs.

And you are 100% incorrect about the timing. The timing could definitely, in fact, be worse. They could release this the day before the iPhone 6 announcement, for example. That would be worse. They could also have realeased this for the iPhone 5/5S/5C two years from now....or even later. Defintely worse!

How do you know the product is mediorce if you've never used it?

Without an extra battery built in isn't this the most useless device ever? Any game that would benefit from improved controls is liable to eat batteries for breakfast.. It looks like there would've been space in there for a battery too. :( Missed opportunity IMO. (i use a lenmar battery case)

Maybe things are better on the 5S? The iP5's batteries don't hold up to much gaming before needing more juice.

Compared to a dedicated handheld like the vita(slim) the iPhone's battery life is a complete joke.. That's the biggest barrier to using it as a primary gaming device to me, not the controls..

Why do people still insist on making devices with round dpads? Do they think Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft (eventually) all got it wrong?

I'm fine with device makers doing what they think is best, and with variety, but it just seems very odd to me. In my experience it's far easier to accidentally press a diagonal on a round dpad, making them objectively worse (assuming most people find the same thing, which given how much N, S and M no doubt spend on customer testing I assume is true).

Maybe they're going for a compromise between a dpad and an analogue stick, since they haven't included analogue sticks, but that strikes me as an terrible idea where you end up with the worst of both worlds.

Somebody buy me one so I can see if I'm right! :p
