The problem will be with the iPhone 8 Plus, and wireless charging. If you place a magnetic piece behind your phone, it might prevent the wireless charger from connecting and charging.

I'll be testing this as soon as my iPhone 8 Plus is delivered. Currently using my iPhone 7 Plus, with an Apple leather case. There is a small piece of magnet for my car holder, between the phone and the case...

Oh man you need to get the magnetic car mount. Been using that for a couple years now. Never sit in ur lap again!

Ya that’s why I have just decided to skip wireless charging this year and go with the fast charging option with usb c cable and 29w brick so I can keep my magnetic holder. Plus they say u have to take off your case for wirelsss charging too. Why would anybody want that, u can’t use it while plugged in laying down. Just a dumb idea really

You don't have to take off your case for wireless charging. Only if the case is metal.

So materials don't matter then.

That's good. But still begs the question. Why even use it. If the new phones support fast charging now and you can still use it while plugged in. why would anybody want to do wireless charging, specially at 7.5w. When they open it up i might see the benefit but if its just for overnight charging. Then who cares if its plugged in or not, your asleep!

Well for me, personally, I could easily just lay it on that charging pad without having to open that charging port up. The only time that i might have to open that charging port from the case is when I'm updating my music library or updating ios. I know there's OTA update, but i prefer the connection update.

But you wont be able to use it while laying it down. Now i can see if your ok with that. But the only time my phone is charging while i am not using it is asleep....Till they open up to the new Qi standard to 15w, just wont be worth it to me. plus fast charging is too good to pass up.

Can't use what? Updating while charging? When i just lay the phone on the charging pad till it's charged up or when i need to use the phone.

The benefit of wireless charging is to charge your phone without the thought of charging your phone. Place the pad where you traditionally sit down your phone. Put the phone down, charge, pick it up to text something, put it back down, charge. Some wireless chargers have batteries in them and are completely wireless. Leave your phone on the pad with headphones plugged in and you're charging and listening to wired headphones at the same time.

Once wireless charging become more commonplace is when the biggest benefit will come. Both Android and iPhone users can walk around with no charger and be fine knowing places will have pads for them. Cars will have wireless charging pads to rest your phone on and you won't have to plug/unplug anything.

But it’s at 7.5w and with all wireless charging some power will get lost during transfer. So how fast will it really be. I can’t play my angry birds while charging! Screw that

I think you can get higher power charging thing, can't you?

Yup, with the 8/8+ or X you will get fast Charge with that..
So, back to the original topic... As what mosin stated, with higher charging power, I don't think i'll have to worry doing multiple things while charging. Is your concern more about charging while doing something with the phone and not getting enough power?
