Whilst it's a breeze to press the Like button to Like a post, I find trying to use it on iOS to select other reactions (such as HaHa) to be roughly on par with trying to heard 17 Cats who have had their cat food laced with Adderall...

Am I pressing it wrong?

What iOS? On iOS 13, pressing and holding for a second makes it up up easily.

When I do it most of the time it thinks I've highlighted the text on the button and gives me the mini formatter/selection bar:

I’ve seen other people mention it but it’s hard for me to reproduce.

Try clicking to the left of the button? Closer to the thumbs up icon? Or zoom in a bit?

See if that helps.

That's what I end up doing, and sometimes it's easy, other times I give up and go for a simple Like, despite me wanting another reaction .

Would it be possible to make the text an image to stop iOS from wanting to select it?

I'm still having major issues with this using Safari. I just spent a minute trying to do something other than "Like" a post.

What is the secret I'm apparently missing here?

I didn’t know about this. Works every time for me on iPadOS.

& just tested it on IOS, where it also worked fine.

apparently this behavior changed in iOS 13.4 -- but I can't completely replicate.

I still have this problem every time on iPhone (14.0.1). OK, I can avoid it if I’m really lucky and let go in that fraction of a second between the Reactions menu appearing and the context menu appearing. It’s a bad UX. I don’t think it makes sense to overload the long-touch interaction in this way.

I was getting it a lot on iPad (14.0.1) as well so I came here to raise a thread about it, did a search first and found this thread, but now can’t replicate it at all on iPad! I could earlier today. Weird.

Anyway, still happens every time on iPhone.

The other problem with this system is I can’t get the Reactions menu to appear at all when using the trackpad on iPad OS.

@arn any chance of this design being reconsidered? I don’t really have a better idea mind you. Maybe get rid of tap-to-like, make a normal tap bring up the menu?

Unfortunately that is part of the core software so we won’t be able to change it easily. The only tip I can offer is try to tap to the left - more on the thumb than on the word like. It works more consistently for me then.
