I can't help but feel this is for those that absolutely need the slim profile and better portability.

We had been waiting on the M2 Air to upgrade my wife's 2018 Air as she needs more internal SSD space (it only has 256Gb). However after seeing the prices of the new Air she has gone for an M1 Pro MBP 14" base model with 2TB SSD.

Here in the UK the M2 Air with 2Tb SSD and 16Gb RAM is £2400 vs base 14" M1 Pro MBP with same specs is £2500.

For £100 more you get the bigger and better XDR display plus a more powerful charger, along with better thermals and less risk of performance throttling.
That's interesting. In the US the 16 GB/2 TB M2 MacBook Air is $2299 while the 16 GB/2 TB 14" MacBook Pro is $2599. I wonder why they are giving the UK a break on pricing for the larger SSD.

I was already considering MBA M2 seriously but having some second thoughts already. Not sure I understood this news correctly https://www.macrumors.com/2022/06/13/supplier-wingtech-wins-new-macbook-air-orders/ but I got impression this mentioned new company is the only one building new MBA M2? Or does it mean it is just one of the three companies who all build MBA M2's?

I've had my share of all kinds of flaws in the new gear and I really hesitate entering vicious return/rebuy cycle I tend to end up so easily after finding some issues with new gear. I've not really had that with MacBooks particularly in the past but I've accepted some flaws, I've just been quite lucky with the displays in those in the past three times which is very rare for me and I really wonder if I get lucky for the fourth time in a row... :)'

Also seriously the only thing for me the MBA M2 really brings on the table is the new design, which I still hesitate how it looks in the real life and especially next to MBA M1. From the photos and videos so far next to 13.3" Pro is looks almost equal in size, I suspect the MBA M1 might look more "air" and slim next to it.
