One of my major reasons for getting my new iPad, was to read magazines. I downloaded the free copy of Mac life, and when I turn the page it takes it takes just a little while for the page to become an un-pixelated.. But long enough to be a annoyance. Is the the case for everyone? Or is Maclife just graphic heavy?
This is occurring on my new iPad, just wondering if anyone else has the same issue.
Happens on all iPads on the MacLife app/magazine and some others too. THE WEEK and the Economist have no delay, WIRED has a quick one, for example. MacLife's is the worst. Comes down to the publishing tool the magazine (and its parent company chose.)
However if you subscribe to MacLife through the Amazon Kindle Store (and read it via the Kindle app) instead, it doesn't have that annoying delay. It also has a "text view" that makes it easier to read just the text of articles. It also costs the same ($1/month.)
Barnes and Noble's Nook reader has a similar option, at the same price, for the same title.
The only benefits I have found of the MacLife app version are: newsstand support and deeper, crisper zoomability of pages.
For now I chose the Amazon route for this magazine but if the app loses that annoying blur-delay before every page display, I will switch back.
