That was a non working unit, didn't have OSX on it, look at 4:26 of the video and you never see the MacBook on, it's always on a black screen. Benchmarks are fake.

It did, but it got messed up after an update.
I dont understand why they wouldn't make a video the same time they ran the benchmarks or why they would be updating a test unit to begin with. Still seems fishy to me, especially since its only a tightly cropped screenshot of the supposed benchmarks but thanks for the explanation.
Because watching videos of benchmarks is boring perhaps. Still, they are promising a more detailed review as soon as they solve the problem or somehow get their hands on a new machine.
Ironically, they could have solved the problem using a USB stick with OS X on it, but there is only one USBC drive on the market at the moment, and it is virtually impossible to come by, especially in the Ukraine![]()
I wonder if this means there are indeed review units out there. I certainly hope so.
The laptop goes on sale in 4 days - there are Definitely review units out there.
Anyone have any idea when the review embargo is usually lifted? Is the the day of the release? Or earlier?
Thanks for posting this! For those who don't understand Russian.. The most interesting part of the video comes at around 11-minute mark, where the reviewer (Natasha) compares rMB performance to the latest Air. Basically, she says she was pleasantly surprised by rMB performance - Yosemite was "snappy", and the computer had no trouble doing all the tasks she did on Air.. which included photo/video editing and playing Diablo. She notes that after playing for about an hour - the temperature of rMB body was 38 degrees (C), and CPU was at 60-65 degrees, and the rMB remained cooler to the touch than her Air doing the same task. She was able to get about 10 hour of battery doing web browsing. She concludes the review stating this was the best ultra-compact laptop she had ever used, and she's putting up her 11" Air for sale.
All in all - very encouraging.
I don't mean a video of the benchmark. Why no video of them playing Diablo or editing photos and videos for over an hour as they claimed to do? Why no unboxing video? The first thing every reviewer would do is start recording video of unboxing and it booting up, especially a brand new model. I don't buy it.
Conspiracy !!!!!!
They have no dog in the fight, why make something up? Be suspicious, untrusting and by an Acer. Please....
it is not clear from the video if it is the 1.2 or 1.3 GHz version, is it ?
It's 1.2 Ghz and that's what was benchmarked.
It's called YouTube views that they are probably getting paid for. Don't be so naive
I don't know whether or not their unit was working, but following Dexter's argument they do win if they can enhance their review further by putting benchmarks. Your last point seems a non-sequitur, I don't quite understand the point you're making.Think about what you post. They don't win or lose by putting up benchmarks. It matters not to the reviewer. Plus if you think it's all about YouTube, if they had a working system running demos and benchmarks, their YouTube hits would be 10x more. Don't be so naive.

You do understand my point. My point being they would not withhold benchmarks or demos. It would lead to increased traffic if they were able to do show those. It is somewhat a circular argument.
You are absolutely correct. This is a 20 minute video review which never actually shows the product powered on and working, which is absolutely unheard of and a huge red flag. Most likely the benchmarks are fake.
I get you now, just thought you were making a counterargument to Dexter hence the perceived incongruityYou do understand my point. My point being they would not withhold benchmarks or demos. It would lead to increased traffic if they were able to do show those. It is somewhat a circular argument.
Yep, thats what Im saying. She claims it was working but it auto updated and bricked it. They are supposedly top reviewers in Ukraine. The first thing any reviewer would do is start rolling video the minute they have it and unbox it, especially for a brand new model. They didn't shoot any video of them unboxing it? Benchmarking it? Playing Diablo or editing photos or videos for hours as they claim? They start running video hours after all that? Total BS.
