Not all those who complain are whining or too poor to purchase the machine, and falling back on that argument every time someone critiques it is simply not constructive.

No but it seems that the great majority are. Moreover, some are actually lying about it to defend their unfounded bias. There are more people like this than there are owners. All this distorts reality and I for one dont mind seeing experienced people defend the truth.

Now the argument to attack the people who are upset is to call them all liars? LOL

Way to reach a new low....

Who has said they have, or had and returned the 2016 that does not, or did not have one? Please provide your proof of such since you have chosen to attack peoples credibility.....

Do you really believe that? I don't think MacBook Pros are important enough for people to go out of their way to lie about (especially on a forum populated with Apple fans). Sure, plenty people have critiqued the computers without purchasing them. But regardless of whether you've purchased the computer, complaints about price, ports, etc. are still credible (not that I agree with all of them.. I'm fine with four USB-C ports but I can understand why one wouldn't be).

I agree, on the whole, that those with the most credibility are those who have actually used the computer. But we all have our own opinions, experiences, and takes on things. For instance, had my "e" key not started malfunctioning, I probably wouldn't be concerned about the longevity of my new rMBP. If you're a casual user like myself who doesn't need a diverse array of ports, you probably won't be concerned about having four USB-C ports. But that doesn't mean that those who criticize these things are wrong.

So you need to taste poop to know it doesn't taste well? Are you trying every MLM out there too to know if it is a scam? It just doesn't make sense to you? I wonder why... Some people are able to reason and draw parallels and I guess people like you, need to pay to learn each time.
There are some things you can complain about without testing it, such as the lack of ports (if that's a problem for you), the high price (I agree with this, I think it's overpriced).

But you can't complain about the keyboard, performance, gimmick touchbar, if you haven't test it. No, not even the performance, because everybody is saying different and things and giving perso al opinions.

A look at the last three days of posts that are CRITICAL about the new MBP are from NON OWNERS. Look for yourselves.

One person in this thread alone was caught lying about owning one, first saying he'd never buy one, then said he had one for a week, and finally saying he had it for a few days.

My review is based on actually owning two of these, running PP software on it, connecting it to a LOT of peripherals and running the battery down with various programs running.

So I should listen to stories about 5 hour battery life from non-owners? Mine's been going for over 8 hours and now at 17% (running a movie in the background, so it'll go fast now).

I'll listen happily to anyone with direct experience.

I absolutely love mine, the Pro 460 and the 3000MB/sec SSD together make the thing an absolute powerhouse for the size. I just got off a few hours of Battlefield 1 on mostly high at 1080p 50-60FPS and I gotta say with the maximum AA setting, it looks incredibly crisp and not far off from playing it maxed out on my 980Ti / Xeon 2676v3 setup. I just ripped through a match where I had 61 kills, 4 deaths and 24,000ish score. Plus, since the SSD is so fast you're the first to load the map which guarantees you a tank since you can select it before anyone else does. Plus I'm able to simultaneously record with a 5 minute pre-buffer using MSI Afterburner/Rivatuner so I can hit one button to save the last 5 minutes of gameplay.

I'll be back to work soon where I'll be working heavy Premiere Pro workflows, but in my prelim testing it does great.

>>>You did no such thing. You are spending hours posting about a device which you do not own, have never owned, and have no intention of buying. Now you've been caught. But even that hasnt stopped you from posting more.>>>

He got caught, so now he's mad at me.

BTW, 13" TMBP, base configuration. Mixed usage. 8:40 running time with 14% running. Key Largo (the movie) is running while I work.

Yeah, my Air is still better, but this is VERY good considering I have a much better screen and a touch bar.

I wish I had those battery times on mine

Cool!

We want to hear from actual experience. I don't look at it as a gaming machine, but have fun!

I'm working mostly in Lightroom today and my 13" is flying through massive RAW files just like my quad core i7. So does my 15" MacBook from last year, but this screen is better. I'd call the 13" a "little beast."

Which model do you have and how are you using it?

Display brightness?
Apps running?

13" TMBP, 3.1 Ghz, 8gb of RAM. I've gotten sub-6 hour estimates with only Safari open and display brightness set medium-high. 7:30 or 8 hrs is probably the highest I've had (while doing nothing). When streaming HD video, forget about it.

Oh man. This is still going on?! You guys need to just stop responding to motime. He won't ever relent until you tell him his 2015 rMBP is the best computer ever made. It just goes lower and lower until you get this thread. It is beyond rational thought. Ignore him, or just tell him his rMBP is the best. He's got stamina for someone with no skin in the game, I'll give him that.

Hmmmm....well I haven't streamed much HD content. I'll have to try that and see how it impacts battery life. I'm running a movie at the moment, but it's not HD. Typically I'm 4 clicks below max for brightness. Maybe tomorrow I'll run a two hour HD test to see how it drains.

I'd be curious to know! It sounds like users' batteries have varied considerably. It's not a deal-breaker for me, as I'm usually around an outlet.

Hey, I've got a rMBP too, but I may have to sell it off. I was going to give it to my dad, but he already saw mine and now he wants it because he's outside a lot. The rMBP screen is very dark, while this screen is incredible.

If it makes someone happy to constantly work to make others unhappy, it's probably best to ignore them!

I'm definitely going to run a test tomorrow. I'll post results in a thread "Battery test" so look for it.

I'm sure you've popped into the "Battery life for 13 and 15..." thread. I know it's 4X pages now, but there is a lot of good info. Lot's of documented fixes or workarounds. Key is understanding what the CPU and rest of the computer is doing. After you understand, you can just run whatever you need and have reasonable expectations for battery life. I also get 8-9 on light usage and can get more if I tried. The tb's battery is smaller yes, but the CPU is also more efficient. You just need to be aware of what makes it kick in. If you're CPU is going nuts for no reason or seemingly innocent apps like Safari are running high watts, reinstalls of Sierra seem to reset everything, without reinstalling anything, painless 5-10 minute process. To get 8-10 hours on the tb13, you need to be running at 5-7 watts on average. If you're running more, something needs to be fixed. Anyway, check it out. The battery claims are REAL. You can get it without any massive change in your workflow. Normal disclaimer, Apple definitely should have optimized this software so that your battery life is good out of the box. But you can make it work before Apple updates Sierra in the future.

lol you tend to get a little too worked up, perhaps you should try getting more sleep instead of wasting your life on here. No one has said the 2015 mbp is the best computer ever made or anything close to it, you sure have a wild imagination.

Again, good comeback dude. 2015 rules! I like to talk about my '16. WTF are you doing here? Really?

EDIT: Sorry guys, I ignored my own advice, kneejerk impulse. I will ignore starting....NOW.

I appreciate the info-- I'll take it into consideration and look into possible optimizations should the battery life become more of an issue.

This entire thread was doomed from the 1st post where the OP smugly, obtusely, and incorrectly labeled everyone who does not praise the new machines as broke bums who need to beg for a ham sammich on a street corner...

Since then, the smugness, put downs, name calling and attacks have continued by him and him alone.. For crine out loud read his posts in the thread.... It's a head scratcher for sure...

Anyways, I think people have a right to be upset with Apple and to voice that opinion wether the've owned the 2016 or not. Some are long time fans who expected more. Some can, believe it or not, judge from the specs that it's a no go for them.. Having said that, I do think people should try it before they decide. It is a nice machine and using it for a few weeks will either change their mind or reenforce their decision. Apple has a very liberal return policy so I say take advantage of it..

I have my moments where I want to return it for a 2015 but that passes quickly...

At any rate, the direction and tone of this thread was set by the OP with the very 1st post and it has continued on in his future postings.. I don't really see the point of this thread anymore so I am out...

You know, while I mostly respect your posts and your attitude throughout this thread, you are just plain wrong with this statement and you should correct yourself for the sake of the simpletons that will take you at your word.

This was the OP's exact quote... "Holy cow, there's a ton of trolling and clickbait from haters and folks who can't afford these new computers! The alarmist trolling is a new hobby that's gone supernova to be sure."

Correct. I have absolute respect for someone who has a 2016 MBP and has some valid issues or concerns. And everything I wrote in my review was FACTUAL. The ONLY editorializing was on the keyboard because that IS certainly going to come down to preference, but only AFTER you give it a real try. If a few weeks go by and you still struggle with the keyboard, then you obviously can't adapt to it.

Offence was taken because I took a broad stroke against the small army of haters who had zero experience with this new tool. I'm glad I did it. Now we're seeing some real and appropriately positive reviews and comments from actual owners.

This is Apple's best laptop yet, but it's not ideal for everyone. It's an advanced tool and like many, it has compromises. If this step forward is not good enough for you, keep what you have. Or buy this and wait a year or two for a tighter upgrade path.

I like it but for the trackpad--the extra size is useless to me and only means that I can no longer have "secondary click" set to the bottom right corner like normal because my palm rests there and keeps accidentally clicking the bottom right. But part of my criticism of the trackpad is the fact that I've never used a ForceTouch trackpad before (my last MBP was from 2012) and I don't really like the ForceTouch feature, so I just turned it off (but I just don't like the feel of the trackpad as much as my 2012 Mac). I also don't care too much for the keyboard. It's not that it's terrible, but I would've preferred the older keyboard as I prefer the feel of it and I am not typing as well on this keyboard as I did on the old one. That's just my personal preference.

And for me the TouchBar isn't really useful. Doesn't mean I "hate" it, but I could do without it and if they had offered a 15" non-touch, I would've purchased it. I find it distracting and I find it making the tasks I'd like to accomplish with function keys cumbersome.

I also wish it had optical audio out because I used it all the time on my old MBP. I never used the SD card slot much though.

Otherwise I don't see too many issues. The display is far superior to any past MacBook and it's much much faster than my 2012 one.

Battery life so far seems good. I hate Chrome and never use it, plus I always dim the screen a lot when on battery. I'm getting 12 hours remaining at the moment.

Disclaimer: I'm not a "hater" just because I'm criticizing it. I'm also pointing out what I like about it. But I own one, I'm using it right now, so I'm allowed to criticize it if I want to.
