All the above really shows me is that a lot of the new features are very minimal and hardly improve anything of any real significance. The only feature I actually think is a good improvement is the LTE.

The iPhone 5 is obviously the "best iPhone ever". But is it really worth the money for a lot of people? Certainly not for me.

I'm sticking with my iPhone 4 and until something really game changing comes out I'll be very happy with what I've got.

lol you have the worst logic with your reason...."current is fine....."

You are the extreme minority with this way of thinking, the sales domination of the iPhone 5 will prove just how small you are :D

I've only owned an original ipod and an ipod touch. When I was younger I used to LOVE tech. Now that I'm a little older not so much......but I am REALLY excited about this phone. Then again some of my excitement is probably fueled by the fact that I will have a WORKING phone.

I highly doubt the iPhone 5 will break records personally.

The point I m making is that although the improvements are quite clearly there, they won't make much difference for most people.

I'm more than happy with my iPhone 4. I didn't upgrade to the 4S as it wasn't enough of an improvement for me and I feel the same about the iPhone 5.

If you like the new phone then that's fine. I just don't feel it's worth the price.

No I think it's just how joe public will see the features

Most have no clue what lte is

Most will update if their contract is up and are happy with ios, the adventurous will venture off to android if they haven't already

That is your opinion alone. Then don't buy it.

Lots of the improvement are not very noticeable? To me the important ones are:
1: 4inch screen
2: LTE
3: Improved speed (2x CPU, 2X GPU)
4: 720p front camera

That is about it. So the update is actually not bad. Just most of these improvement are already exists in android phones for a while. You probably don't know the other improvements in day to day use if Apple didn't advertise them.

I'd say had Apple put a 4.5 inch 720p screen, this would be a near perfect phone at current technology.

true. Also, I think less will upgrade b.c carriers are more stern w/ fulfilling 20ish+
months for the $199 price point and verizon making you pay full retail to keep your current plan.

4.5 is too big to use with one hand. This will probably be their biggest phone

Sorry to quote this monster post again guys, but this is literally the worst post of all time. What were you expecting from Apple? There's not much they can add.

I think what most people are missing is some new software snazz. Although iOS 6 adds some features, not many are completely new, and hardly any at all stand out as being something to be excited about. I know some people prefer the interface, and its nice to me also, but aside from allowing backgrounds and folders, the home screen hasn't changed in 5 years, for example.

I haven't criticised Apple once. I love Apple products and have used them for nearly 10 years without feeling the need to look elsewhere.

I just don't feel like the iPhone 5 is a worthwhile improvement. What's wrong with that?

I don't feel there is anything wrong with your opinion at all, and you are entitled to it... just that I feel you are in the small minority if you feel the iPhone 5 isn't a worthwhile improvement ;)

Btw I appreciate the amount of work you put into your post earlier at #25, even if it was different from mine :)

Unless people expect it to fire laser beams, not sure what is expected :)

This will be my first smartphone. I have refused to pay for data service (and my own phone) for quite a while. I guess it is time.

You guys keep on saying things that suggest people are in the "small minority" if they're not impressed but this phone. But there's another thread here with a vote which shows about 40% disappointed. And this is an Apple fanboy site. Granted, 40% is still a minority, but it's not an "extreme" minority (as someone mentioned above) or a "small minority". It's a really big number for a site whose membership is dominated by Apple fans.

And it's a valid question to ask "what did you expect"? Well, I would have liked to see a new design. Not one that looks like a taller and slightly uglier iPhone 4. A lot of other people were looking for NFC. In the past we've even just let Apple surprise us with something that makes our jaws drop (like several aspects of the original iPhone, or the redesigned 3G model, or the redesigned 4, or the retina display, and the list goes on). Does anything at all in this new phone make your jaw drop? Obviously the rumors have been out for a while, but did any of these feature *ever* make your jaw drop? Probably not, because they're obvious and boring. This phone just seems like a taller 4S that has some minor spec bumps and a new dock connector that will be more of a headache than anything else.

My points exactly.

Following up on my earlier comment, this iPhone feels very "Android'ish" to me. The Android recipe for years has been: Impress everyone with a slightly larger display and big-sounding specs, but otherwise show very little innovation.

That's what makes me a little disappointed.

Lol sounds like an old person who gets angry when things change and they don't understand. "IT'S ALREADY GOOD ENOUGH!"
"WE DON'T NEED TO CHANGE ANYTHING SONNY!"
"SAPPHIRE? DC-HSPA? LTE? SATURATION? I DON'T KNOW WHAT THAT IS SO I DON'T LIKE IT!"

I'm not sure I'm interpreting you correctly but a company that gets lazy, stops innovating, and instead relies on a currently popular design in a very active market...... is a company that's about to have its lunch eaten by a competitor.

Come back in a few months when we find out the iPhone 5 sold more units than the 4S, and faster. You may not think Apple is innovating enough or that they're getting lazy, but I assure you they are not about to stop making billions of dollars.

Why the need to be offensive? I love change which is why I don't like the iPhone 5. It's essentially an iPhone 4XL.

I don't see the iPhone 5 breaking records. The response so far has been more negative than positive I would say. Just my opinion.

It's way more of an upgrade then the 4S was. It will break records.

I guess we'll see about that. It could be the case I suppose. I think a lot of people skipped the 4s and waited for this release (most probably expecting more). They'll probably buy it because their carrier subsidy is available and if they don't take advantage of that then they're technically losing money.

I'm not expecting anything to happen overnight. But this is two years in a row of fairly dull iPhone offerings. I wonder where the market will be in 3-5 years.

2x CPU iPhone 4 is fast enough

But if we all thought this we would go no where?!

Believe me when I use a 4 after my 4S the difference in speed is extremely noticeable. If this new phone is 2x as fast again, then just wow.

Agreed. I also use an iPhone 4 and can definitely confirm that it can get sluggish at times. Im looking forward to the iPhone 5.
