edit- since title isn't accurate, the SIM tray on both my devices is messed up but the phones themselves are fine, phew

The sim tray is broken? I'd go see if Apple can give you a replacement.

the hole, the smaller part broke off (that is closer to the end of the SIM) on the other one its kinda bent on small part past the hole on 7plus

argh, i want a SIM tool too, paper clip obviously isn't strong enogh/is too strong and it bent

store or online support should i try,

so bummed out

I would just buy another sim tray.
I also wouldn't recommend trying to use the broken one as if you do get it in you might not be able to get it out.

If none of the SIM tray that actually holds the SIM is broken it'd probably be ok, but I wouldn't risk it. As another poster said, it might get stuck.

I'd go to an Apple Store, but there are 3 within half an hour of where I live.

oh man i am so unnecessarily bummed out right now,

making a genius bar appointment i see has gotten confusing on iOS app and store site, how do i do this without just doing live chat?

i wonder how 7 plus will be dealt with since IMEI on the SIM tray, not with SE though

as far as i can tell, no damage to the actual phones

man :(

Why not call Apple and ask if they can also help you set up an appointment? You paid a pretty penny for those phones, ask politely see what happens.

Don't be bummed, it'll all work out. And obviously I'd also make sure I have my receipts for both phones, if they're Apple receipts they will have this.

after getting this sorted, won't be doing any SIM swapping until I have a reliable SIM ejector tool.

Bought SE sim free, so came with it but I lost it over time,

bought 7 plus contract free, but Att version so didnt come with an ejector.

NEVER using a paperclip EVER again

thanks and thanks guys,

this is so uncharacteristic of me, and happened immediately after waking up from a nap,

happened to both trays before i even realized what happened,

SO GLAD the devices are ok,

I googled it and saw some people say they got replacements at the Apple Store for the same issue. One guy convinced them the ejector was defective, which caused the extra force necessary to release the tray and bend it, and he got a replacement phone.

ive always been paranoid about my phablet bending just in general being that its a lot of surface and I ride my bicycle with it in slim pockets sometimes, but as far as I can tell 7Plus is straight and no damage to screen--

REALLY REALLY REALLY didnt want to have to exchange the phone anyways, screen is nice and everything works fine with it(seemingly a miracle with 7/7+ quality control)

fwiw, i have had to apply an insane amount of down force to get 7plus sim tray to come out even first time around (with the side on a cushy couch, but there so i can push the paper clip down in the phone) i remember that that probably rendered paper clip useless more quickly

I dodged two bullets, potentially royally screwing up my actual phones. which would land me in a jailbroken less SE and swap hell/bum devices as replacements, phew!!

I put a SIM removal tool on my key ring so I always have one. It's come in handy more times than you'd probably think.

But I keep my Moto X's tool instead of my iPhone's since it's a little smaller, so it fits all my devices.

Would an Allen key/wrench work better than a paper clip?

Me personally, I wouldn't be using any thing other than a specific Sim removal tool. I know paper clips and other items will 'Work', but it's issues like these that can be avoided.

However, Some Sim removal tools are also cheaply built too, thus creating a caveat.

i'm gonna see if they have a spare to offer at the genius bar tomorrow, in light of my issues but already prepared to hear no on that one :D

i will keep it around my key loop too to never lose!

there is a link of a 10 pack someone posted here, but it won't ship for a month

anyone know of a reasonable priced/but also fast ship SIM tool?

Speaking of sim removal tools. All my previous phones came with one. I noticed my iPhone 7 plus didn't have one in the box this time .

If you bought sim free that's why.

Any iPhone not sim free doesn't
Come with it. Unless they skimped on sim free 7's too haha
