Alright, I have 2 questions right now: I'm thinking about getting a refurb iMac in return for my iMac, the 3.06Ghz 8800gs model. I should have done this in the first place; I didn't know they were so cheap. So, question one: How much better is the 8800GS than the GT 120? Also, if the time I can return my iMac is by March 31st, can I return it tomorrow?

Just called the Apple store and they said that I can return it tomorrow. So now I need to know, is it worth going through all that for the 8800GS? Is it much better than the GT 120 I have right now?

Its about 1.5-2x better.

What exactly you dont like about your current iMac? If its the video card, then sell it and get the imac with faster video. If you don't know, then keep it and start enjoying it because if you dont know what you want/need, you will waste a ton of money before you do :)

It's the video card. It's just not good enough. Everything else is great. So you think that it would be worth it to return my iMac and get the refurb?

Look around, visit benchmark sites like barefeats or macworld, read reviews to determine how good a product is and how it compares to others. Based on this info you can make an educated and calculated decision what and when to buy. Otherwise, you'll just end up selling what you just bought in favor of a seemingly "better fit".

If you are interested in what I think, then I say sell 2.93 and get the previous 3.06, especially if you won't loose a lot of money.

Well, I was going to return it. But there will be a stupid restocking fee of $170. But I can still afford a refurb if I do that. But I would have to make a decision by tomorrow because that's when my return period expires. I think I would want to do it because I would like to keep this iMac for a while and the video card I have just isn't cutting it.

Could ask them to waive the restocking fee as you are planning on buying another computer from them?

I already asked them that. They said that since it was so expensive they couldn't do that. I really wish they could.

Ahh. I see you have the exact same thing I might do. How is it for you? Do you like/mind having a PC as well as a MacBook?

I have the same setup.. custom gaming PC and a new white macbook (i wanted the firewire for my camera)

to be honest... the macbook is more of a 'toy' for me to mess around with... just playign around with imovie and some audio editing.

I think Microcenter has the new whitebooks for 750 or somethign after rebates which makes it an even better deal!

To me spending thousands of dollars to be able to play games on a mac wasn't worth it to me... I love my setup and don't plan on changing it any time soon...

**EDIT**
whoops didn't see you got the imac... GL with the return!

I am plagued by your indecision. It hounds me.

Although it did spurn some lovely words from 63dot earlier. Beautiful.

I just got back from the Apple store; returned my iMac. I returned it for $1720. Not bad. Now I just need to wait for the iMac 3.06 to show up in the refurbs section again. Does anyone know when they typically pop up?

Side note, the people in the Apple store are totally awesome. The guy that returned my iMac knew what he was talking about and at first he wasn't sure I was doing the right thing, but I explained it to him and he got it and said I was making a great choice. :)

Ordered my refurb iMac yesterday. Shipped out today, arrives the 9th. Can't wait. :D

Dental floss comes in a variety of materials, colors, and even flavors. Most mouth woes are caused by plaque. Waxed varieties are slipperier, allowing people with extremely tight spaces between their teeth to floss more easily.
