Since someone new posted, i thought i'd update this thread on what's going on.
This..is going to sound ridiculous but bare with me. After my first post, i returned my macbook and customized a top of the line hp laptop. This sucker had everything. A quad core processor, 1080p screen, blu-ray disc drive, twice the ram. Everything. Spec wise, it was a beast. Took a couple weeks to get it in the mail and i was stoked to get it.
Then i got it and instantly after having the macbook for awhile, i was disappointed in small things like how it felt in the hands/build quality. It just wasn't there. It felt all plasticy, the laptop felt twice as thick and had a larger footprint, the screen was 1080p and it looked no different than my old hp laptop. Everything looked fuzzy to me and i have great eyesight. It wasn't me. It was the quality of the screen. Then..
the trackpad. Oh my freaking god the trackpad. I didn't think i'd miss gestures so much. Even something as mundane as scrolling up and down a webpage became real hard because even though it had a little area on the trackpad to scroll up and down, it never worked. And the flipping four fingers up to switch between spaces was something i missed.
So...i returned yet another laptop. Sent that thing back and bought a macbook again and couldn't be happier. I found solutions to my problems as one of you in here said "just let osx do the work for you. Don't fight it". I stopped fighting it trying to make it behave like windows and its worked beautifully for me so far. I can't imagine not having a mac now. Huge transition from just a month ago when i couldn't wait to get rid of it. I've learned about converting non compatible files, got final cut pro x, used iPhoto to manage everything and even make postcards and photo books (girlfriend loves this)
I guess my initial reaction was culture shock. I wasn't use to not knowing how to do things. Even the most basic things and initially i was thinking "why even bother to learn how to do this. The benefits can't be that great". After a month, yes. Yes they are that great. Ever since i bought my 2nd macbook, my girlfriend keeps picking it up and using it even though i just bought her a lenovo laptop. She can't wait to switch mac
