So you've basically totally ignored me when i said my 5 is failing and needs changing?

If you're not listening, dont comment.

Do you guys have the financing options that we have in the US? I know US customers have the option to buy phones in a two year contract, full price, or 0% monthly financing over 20 or 24 months (but you can upgrade after a year instead of having to pay full price like those in a contract. That might be worthwhile to you of you want to get the 5s and wait for the 6s.

I don't think any phone can be "too thin" for me. The thinner, the better.

The camera is a bit weird, but aside from that, I don't really have any issues with what the 4.7 and 5.5 have to offer.

Except that the new processor is 25% faster while using half the power, which results in 25%-50% more battery life.

Doesn't the 6 plus come with a pretty high-spec battery? In order to get better battery tech we need to wait for some genius to be born who will invent the thing. Otherwise we have to make do with what's there now.

Cry me a river. You said it yourself... it's just a phone. Buy a used 5s on Ebay if you want to save your upgrade. I personally think you will be missing out. :apple:Pay is reason enough to upgrade. Keep in mind that there are those of us that really like the iPhone 6, so your subjective opinion is just that... subjective.

I know it's just a phone but, c'mon, this is poor from Apple

No Sapphire display, protruding camera, FUGLY back case, no 4" model, 16GB base unit, protruding camera (yes, it's a big deal), too thin, no significant improvement to battery technology, nothing screaming "wow".
It goes on and on.

Not to mention the live feed was really annoying and made the whole unveiling even more unwhelming. The Chinese translator ruined whatever I was able to see and they couldn't even get the music right before the event started.

So, I have a dilemma. I am on 3 (UK) and I can upgrade. I've had a 5 for two years but I just do not want to get a 6 for another two years. I really think the 6s might fix a lot of the design problems with this model so I want to switch my upgrade cycle. The thing is, my 5 is failing so I must change it. Is there anywhere I can get a 5s on just a one-year deal?

The camera has to stick out if the overall case is thinner, especially with optical image stabilization adding complexity to the camera assembly. The laws of optics dictate the minimum depth that the camera assembly must have.

Does anyone really care that there's no sapphire display? My iPhone 5 doesn't have a scratch on it and it's been bumped around quite a bit.

In regards to the ugly lines and protruding camera lens, a case will fix that easily.

Sapphire would be cool, but at what cost? Protruding camera is fine. Makes me happy Apple is focusing more on useability & functionality than mere appearance. I agree about 16GB not being enough. Too thin? that doesn't make any sense. Go complain to battery technology to the people that make the batteries. Nothing screaming wow? It's a phone man. My suggestion: buy something else, and find another forum to complain on.

Really let down? I'm sure it wasn't personal. Buck up, it'll be okay and you know you'll buy one. ;)

I am so glad the 6 is not available in 4". That means you crybabies can't use it one handed. END OF THE WORLD!

Not a fan of the camera lens not being flush...

... but other than that, I'm cool.

I case my phones anyways so the lens will not be an issue for me.

So true. Once in a case the camera lens will be flush or even a bit recessed since a useful case would be thicker than the amount by which the lens protrudes.

Part of me wonders if the guys in Cupertino are really thrilled with caving in to market demand of larger iPhones.

Apple's job is to make products people want to buy. And if that means a segment wants larger phones and Apple provides such a desire product, that's Apple doing business - not "caving" in.

When you are notorious for taking a "We know better than you" and "We'll tell you what you want" stand, it's hard not to feel they are caving in.

Buy something else then. No one is forcing you to buy it

He never said he wouldn't buy something else. Is it not ok to be disappointed in a release and then talk about it? Is that not the point of a fan forum? Talking about how you feel about the products that said forum revolves around?

That said, I am happy with most things except the price point and the fact that 16GB wasn't the base model. That's, frankly, pitiful. I am asking myself if it's worth the extra $100. Yeah, I will cave.

Actually, that isn't correct. The majority of battery goes into powering the screen. Processors themselves spend 99% of their time at idle using next to no power so it's effect on prolonger battery life is minimal.

Actually that's a number directly from Apple. The processor uses 50% less power but that only increases the battery life around 25%, plus or minus depending on the usage scenario.

The effect of processor efficiency on battery life is not minimal, it's a large fraction of the battery life. Although the screen often times is the majority of power usage it's nowhere near the only thing affecting battery life. Apple is using a display that uses almost 40% more power in the iPhone 6 4.7", but manages 10%-25% more battery life, or more due to other efficiencies, with nearly the same battery capacity.
