We all love always-off display, don't we? :p Better yet, it is always-off OLED, extra power saving.:p
It's too bad Apple even dared to release such a phone that has such terrible value feature-wise, even though in other markets price difference is more justifiable.

I’m really loving the all-ways off display of my 14 Pro Max as I now have turned it off. The honeymoon is over and with the rare exception when I use it as a clock I just don’t need it.

Also it will send me notifications and sound on AOD - what up with that?

You want always on on the 14 Plus? Set it to never lock and dim the screen, trust me it’s the same thing…

Yes, it sometimes keeps me up at night, not knowing if I have the right phone.
What other purpose/goal is there for these posts? What do you get out of them? Not rhetorical questions.

The "sense of humor" angle might be believable if these came as self-aware retorts in existing threads/broader discussions critical of the 14 Plus...but entirely new, separate threads focused on 14 Plus-justifying "jokes"? Are these bits of humor originally from another language and thus lose everything in translation?

Meh. Wake me when Apple finally gets around to releasing an always never sometimes kinda sorta perpetually semi-on display, like my friend keeps bragging about on his Samsung Intragalactic Overlord XVIII++!?$@. You know? The one with reduced spontaneous burn-off? Until then, I’m sticking with my Newton; no point in upgrading.

Finally, Apple gets serious on #minimalism

It’s definitely the most minimalist yet most intuitive user interface detail to come out of Apple in a while, to ensure no confusion over whether or not your phone is unlocked when glancing over to it from a distance and seeing the screen lit up.

With the constant clicking (at five second intervals) of the new 48mp sensor - by itself no less - on my new iPhone 14 Pro Max, I am no no longer recommending anyone get the 14 Pro series of phones. I’m still going to use the thing as I bought it and set it up, but the camera issues I told others were normal may not be. We will see if the camera starts to fully break down quickly or just slowly degenerate but this is definitely not normal! And me not doing anything with the photo apps - they are just open and out of the blue loud clicking a five second intervals!

Rant over!

In the absence of being able to buy a new 13 Pro Max - I now recommend you get a 14 Plus until the camera issues are addressed and fixed.

The OP has a point…

14 plus is amazing powerhouse! Don't be mad because you spend more to have the battery drain! and fake island LOL.. I have both.. and a Pro, but must say the Plus is significantly underrated IMO! It is nuts how everyone gets all bent out of shape :/

Clicking? I have the 14 pro max and I have no issue with mine. Maybe return it?

Too late as I’m in my third week.

Plus, I was never an early adopter for this very reason but I had one week of my vacation left so I drove out of town and bought it so I could have some fun.

So I heard a click then five seconds and then click again and then five seconds and on and on. At first I thought it was the movie but then “I clicked in” and I paused the video and listened to the phone. Then I put my ear to the rear camera module and sure enough there was the static and the click at five second intervals. I freaked out that it just started doing this on its own and turned it off. Turned it on and closed all apps with the main Apple camera app and Halide where I last took a 48mp shot.

Nothing happened, so I opened both and left it open and nothing. Safari was last used - so I figured it might have been an old tab from a twitter click that was loud and I was just hearing it loop over the five seconds. I was now so sure of it and relieved. So I brought back the clip and turned the volume up and there it was, the static and the click - except when the video ended there was one second of dead audio and it was really obvious. But I figured I had the two camera apps open so maybe static from that kept it coming during the dead audio moments. No go there as the static or module turns off when listening to video.

So it probably happened. It may have been one of the two apps trying to open but stuck in a loop energizing the module, but who knows. Maybe I have early onset of dementia and it’s all in my mind - nah…

This would appear to be a real issue as it is not “normal”. But maybe it is just a weird one-off never to be seen again. So I started a thread for others to respond it they had this happen to them and it’s being buried right now.

I don’t think the clicks will damage the modules but now I have to close camera apps after I finish taking photos as I don’t want the phone to become possessed and start clicking out of the blue like last night. I’m keeping it and seeing what happens. I have a duplicate phone in a 12 PM, so if this goes down I just use that.

Well I wanted some early adopter fun and now I have it.
