It is, they’ll do just about everything they can to repair the device they have on hand.

There are always going to be one-offs, but a replacement is not the norm outside of something catastrophic. If it was during battery-gate, replacing it due to damage they caused to avoid messing up the repair queues is probably a good enough reason by itself.

I guess, I've just never had that happen in my experience. I had a screen delamination issue on an iPad Pro as well and they replaced that too.

I wasn't pushing for any particular kind of outcome either. Guess I'm an outlier.

Same unit repairs for iPads only became available within the last couple years for a select few models and a select few components, and even then very few stores got the proper equipment to do them in-store. You’d probably get a replacement for that still.

Maybe it would’ve been more accurate for me to say iPhone repairs. iPhone and Mac have a lot of repairable parts, but iPad (and Watch) not so much.
