While i enjoy android. This is the very reason why it is viewed as the “poor peoples“ phone even though its hardware is extremely advanced.

the software and the flea market mentality from other vendors cheapen android. Doesn’t help android copies iOS very frequently

They should have done it the Samsung and Google way... Criticize Apple then do the same thing later...

Headphone jack, charger in the box
unlike Google and Samsung, the Chinese actually look up to Apple. They would copy, but they rarely bad mouthed Apple. In a sense, they copied a lot of Apple's UI indirectly as an acknowledgement that that is what they think is great. Pretty much most if the Chinese Android skins look more like a copy of iOS and is quite far from stock Android.

I don’t understand why we’re celebrating this “dynamic island”. There are a ton of phones that just take advantage of the screen real estate. Why add a hole in the screen back to the devices?
I agree with you - i prefer the android approach to getting rid of the everything in the front screen. BUT THANKS TO APPLE THAT WILL MOST CERTAINLY TAKE A BACKSEAT. I am not fan of the island at all. It is annoying. It doesn’t to disappear like the notch did. It honestly feels like a hack to me.

Now we have to wait YEARS! for an all screen only phone :(

I'm guessing that Apple's entry from a couple weeks ago will be the winner. :p

In all seriousness, the only difference here is that a company is trying to cover up for their usual move to copy whatever Apple has done by "crowdsourcing" their efforts. It's possible some user will come up with something cool, but I think this is really just cover so they can say their users came up with this great idea and hope that everyone ignores how closely they copied Apple with their new setup.
Right -- Realme doesn't want to get sued either so they are passing that liability onto their fans 🤣

LOL yeah. Remember the early days of the notch? Many Chinese OEMs copied the big notch without offering anything behind it other than a standard front facing camera. Thus it evolves into tear drop and punch hole later.

How about if global warming caused screen levels to rise and made the dreamy dynamic island go away completely, so we could have our full screen back? Oh, I guess then cats wouldn't have a place to sleep.

Chinese smartphone maker realme is asking its "loyal fans" for ideas on how to copy Apple's Dynamic Island from the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max.

In a challenge, realme says, "the UI around the camera hole could morph into different shapes and sizes to display incoming phone calls, alerts, notifications, and more," precisely like Apple's Dynamic Island. The company finds this idea "quite appealing" and has decided to turn to its "loyal fans for ideas and suggestions on how such a software feature could be implemented on realme devices." Fans are asked to submit images, videos, and illustrations of how realme could implement a copycat version of Dynamic Island onto its devices.
In an image attached to the challenge, realme showcases a hole-punch cutout with a yellow glow captioned "What's your dream island like?" realme says its UI developers will use the winner's idea and "consider it for a possible implementation in the future."

Dynamic Island on the iPhone 14 Pro

Since its announcement earlier this month, the iPhone 14 Pro's Dynamic Island has received positive reviews from users and customers online, with some calling it "one of Apple's best design in years." Dynamic Island utilizes the pill-shaped area at the top of the display to showcase relevant and contextual information to users, such as background activities, Now Playing, and more. Within days of Apple's iPhone 14 event, Android developers already began their attempts to recreate Dynamic Island on Android devices.

It's interesting how wide the cultural gap is here. China has a very long history of apprentices emulating master artisans, closely duplicating their designs. It is a very natural, comfortable progression for them to use the work of others as a springboard. But in the West this seems odious to us as it reeks of the exploitation of someone else's work. As a Westerner I'm firmly in the latter camp, and learned at an early age that much is lost in the learning process when one simply copies work off a classmate's paper. However, I think one can at least recognize that the Chinese culture simply has a different approach to this. Ultimately, I think it is at their peril (in many ways). But this behavior is not really as sinister as it might seem to us looking on from the West.
It's theft. No need to apologize for it.

There is a current reality about notches and holes that forces Apple to find solutions and not so much Android manufacturers. Currently, most Android smartphones do not use facial recognition. And if they have it, it only uses the front camera and software to work.

Apple goes a step further with Face ID, a facial recognition technology that is light years ahead of its Android counterparts. Apple needs a lot more space, so it requires a main island and a solution to not have a big useless hole in the screen.

Android does not need this solution. Or at least not so much. Most front-facing cameras on Android smartphones are tiny and they barely take up screen space. They may be visually inconvenient and ruin the symmetry of the devices, but they are not a major inconvenience when it comes to implementing designs or functionality in the system.

That is, in terms of interface they hardly get in the way, so it is not so necessary to implement something similar to Dynamic Island. The video that is going viral simply shows an idea of a fanatic who wants to see Apple’s innovations implemented in other devices. What do you think? Would you like your Android mobile to have something similar?

=======
So this is more of a why bother for android usage, then useful.

TBH I like they get ideas from users. They can get really creative and after all it makes every company more competitive.

Also I would say that apple sometimes had inspiration from jailbreak tweaks..
Yes! I remember the animated clock icon originally being a jailbreak tweak that looked cool and was customizable with different icon designs. I think a year later or next iOS version, Apple added it natively.
