All I can say is screw you Tim Cook if you restrict the best camera feature to the phablet to create some phony differentiation.

Still not sure Apple cant match the Notes' specs. I wish... but I dunno. It'll take a miracle.

So disappointed. Now if I want the best phone Apple has to offer, I have to get a 5.5" iPhone (too big for me but I get others like it). :(

I don't mind Apple making a 5.5" iPhone along with the 4.7", but they should keep them the same spec wise.

THIS!

I couldn't care less about a giant phone. I'd be much happier with my same old 4" phone. I guess I can live with 4.7" but its extremely irritating that they are turning the huge phone into the flagship model. It should be the same, perhaps with the smaller phone having a slightly higher DPI because it has the same resolution in a smaller package. Instead the 5.5" is going to have OIS, better resolution, better DPI, and have a sapphire cover. They've managed to sell hundreds of millions of iPhones with small screens, I think its safe to assume we don't all want to hold iPad minis to our heads.

Man - you people act like this rumor automatically means no OIS for the 4.7"....

RELAX!

4 days until its announced. You can all whine about a REAL product then. Until Tuesday, stop complaining about something that isn't even real yet.

yea, but don't we have the camera module for the 4.7". Did it appear to have OIS?

Brace yourselves: the sarcastic comments about there not being a 5.5 inch iPhone are coming.

At least we don't have the epic naming fight we had before the iPhone 5 came out. Too many people saying it should be called the iPhone 6, and insulting your intelligence if you said otherwise.

Agree on all points.

Color-matched speaker mesh inside those tiny holes. Now THAT is attention to detail.

As for the two sizes having different components/specs... that may be unavoidable reality. Can Apple obtain enough of the top-end parts for ALL iPhone buyers? That's a lot of units.

Still not sure Apple cant match the Notes' specs. I wish... but I dunno. It'll take a miracle.

The Note can't match Apple's software. Which is why the iPhone keeps outperforming "faster on paper" devices in both benchmarks and real-world tests, while wasting less battery in the process!

Android is great for marketing fluff: bullet points and numbers. Do those specs deliver useful value? Shhh... you're not supposed to ask that!

Whatever spec the Note has that you think you'll miss having, look into what that spec delivers* in the real world after the salesman has his commission from touting it. You'll probably feel a lot better :) Then look at the iPhone specs the Note can't match...

* The closest Samsung "spec" I'd truly want is better stylus support, which Apple leaves awkwardly to third parties. Sadly, the awesome iOS art apps like Procreate are missing on Android, so I'd still pick iOS even for art. And I wouldn't want Apple to include a space-wasting stylus that most people should never need. But I DO want Apple to SUPPORT styluses fully, with an MFi-type program, so third-party options can really be the best possible.

Following historical patterns from all other iPhone releases.

I am going on the assumption that release day will be Sept 19th and working backwards.

I really want to get in on the preorders this year. I was seriously disappointed last year that I couldn't pre order the 5s.

[edit] hmmm - looks my carrier went an made me eligible for an upgrade before my contract ends.
Might we see preorders earlier than normal this year?

I looked at the MR Roundup - no camera module so we have no idea....

That's my point - and who knows how many of these intricate parts are the final deal? There are likely numerous prototypes with a variety of different specifications to see what works best.

We've seen a fully complete logic board that indicates the iPhone 6 will have 1GB of RAM and I'm not 100% convinced of that either.

Ya'll can go crazy and whine and moan if that's what you really want to do. I'm just saying....we're only 4 days away....can't the complaining wait until we actually have a REAL product with known specs to complain about?

Here's hoping for:

4.7"
8MP, 1.75um pixels, OIS

5.5"
12-13MP, 1.75um pixels, OIS

I'm sure the extra space in the 5.5" allows for extras that just won't fit in the 4.7" model and that will probably always play a role in what gets added.

Still nothing fully assembled this late?

Looks like no 5.5" release along with the 4.7"

There is no way two iPhones that differ by so much internal space would have the same specs. To do so you would have to artificially limit the 5.5. According to the article, the camera sensor with OIS simply won't fit in the 4.7" case. If you're going to make one unit a premium model, you're going to do it to the more expensive, larger version; similar to what you see between the iPad Air and iPad Mini.

This is what I'm thinking....

There SHOULD be some differentiation between the 4.7" and 5.5" but it will be in somewhat superfluous areas like MP, GHz, mAh....the things that look good on the spec sheet but ultimately don't make for a better smartphone necessarily. Some of these things will be necessary based on the size of the device (more battery capacity, more power).

Still not believing they made the phone thinner than the damn camera module! Terrible decision if true...and these leaks usually are true this close to an event.

But it's better because it's thinner. Because thinner is better. Don't question us, we're Apple.

If they can make it so thin, keep the components thin and add a thicker battery. Win-win.

I wonder how much these guys are spending to obtain these parts. If they're selling modified iPhones for upwards of $1000 they can probably afford it, though Tim Cook can't be too happy.

I don't see what the big deal is. Lots of phones have protruding cameras. For instance the new HTC Desire just released. Most likely it will look like the 5th gen iPod touch.

You are correct sir, hope the 4.7" turns up soon.

Any rumors floating about the purchase of "beats" being attached to the iphone 6 release in any way?
