The iPhone 7s top features: It sets Apple tech back 10 years, looks the same as the last 5 phones, and still can't do as much as a Samsung.

Why is everyone so obsessed with Samsung? They are really overpriced for what you get. Try One Plus or Xiaomi, those companies really put some effort in design and esthetics. They will rule the market in 5 years. Samsung is focused on copying Apple. They even copy features that are just rumors.

I really enjoyed the articles in the old days of printed media. We had beautifully written, concise single articles that covered many aspects of the matter. Luckily, Ars Technica is still quite good in this regard. Here ... it's spam galore.

..and for 1000000000th time - so what ? IPhone still misses one VERY IMPORTANT - an ability to listen to music with so comfortable well working headphones. If you want To go to wireless you could do that with iPhone 6 / 6s too. But removing of audio jack for NOTHING is just ...stooped :)))

So there is no headphone jack?

Too bad Apple didn't create and include an adapter so people can still use their old headphones with the phone. That would have been perfect for everyone whining about how they can't use their headphones.

Anyone that thinks the removal of the headphone jack was simply for a bigger battery or the new home button on the iPhone 7 is missing the big picture. This was removed now so when there is a truly brand new iPhone revealed whatever they are doing works how they need it to.

Good list. The headphone jack removal is (whether one likes it or not) something very big that can't simply be ignored and forgotten in a few days. Thus a forum for fans-geeks-trolls-pundits and whoever may want to follow is naturally discussing about that. I may see that some people would prefer to let this to the past very quickly, but I can see others expressing their disapproval in various ways

How sad do you have to be to troll a Mac website for four years because of a phone?

p.s. you haven't seen all the articles showing the iPhone 7's processor benchmarking at twice the speed of any Samsung, I take it?

True dat, damn straight.

Totally steamed. As hard as I try I can't get my iPhone to burst into flames. Yay Samsung!

Still exploring all the changes, many seem to be changes for change sake. The Health app is much worse. I use it to track my blood sugar, and now that and my activity are no longer on the front page. Everything is buried under these layers, with no way to edit or rearrange what is shown. This is apple once again saying we know best and your opinion does not matter.

Have we covered the fact that it doesn't have a headphone jack yet? Because I hate that.

That is quite literally the only thing I need to know about the iPhone 7. They could lower the price to $99 and throw in free wireless earpods and I'd still rather buy a "premium" phone that comes with a headphone jack.

Interestingly, as hard as I try, I can't get my Note 7 to burst into flames either.

Of course I'm still swapping it under the recall just to be sure. But the iPhone 7 will always be 5 year old tech with a missing headphone jack

Gais... Is the iPhone 7's camera 'ring' concave or convex? It appears concave in some pictures/videos, but convex in some others. Are there two versions or it's just my eyes playing tricks on me. I don't see anybody else mentioning it anywhere. It's kinda bothering me lol.

Better hurry. Samsung will be rolling out a software update limiting battery charge to 60%. Wonder how airlines will know which phones have been updated? And which haven't?

No worries Samsung will catch up soon and remove the phone jack. My guess is next year. As an aside, they sure steamed a lot of their customers over the last few models by removing expandable memory, the replaceable battery pack, and even introducing a protruding camera trying to be more iPhone-like.

You have an option, go somewhere else!
I have. I went to a nexus phone and it's better than the iphone 7 in my opinion. I go elsewhere to discuss other non apple tech with other people and I also go to this website. I still come here because a) I have a Mac that has a headphone jack and b) the fact that apple took out the headphone jack may make other companies think it's okay to do the same. My complaining helps prevent that.

I'd still rather have a possibly exploding Note 7 than a low res LCD screen and primitive OS without edge panels or widgets. And once I swap it, I don't have to worry about exploding.

The point you're missing is that in 2016, removing the headphone jack is absolute stupidity. It causes needless difficulty for the customers, there is zero reason to remove the jack. Maybe in 2018 the market will transition that way. Same thing with USB-C on the rMB. Maybe USB-C is the future, but in 2016 all it is is a port to stick your adapters in. If in 2018 everyone uses USB-C and no headphone jack, it doesn't prove Apple was right, it just proves apple caused their customers trouble for nothing.

Both, concave at the bottom and convex at the top, like a Bézier curve or an integral sign.

No Stainless Steel series 2 Apple watches in any stores.

Am I missing something? Or were they supposed to be at least sent to these stores. It seems the stores aren't even getting shipments of them. Just the Aluminum ones.

This is a forum for the discussion of Apple products. Why don't you troll off to a Samsung forum if you like them better? Or is that on fire, too?

That was a discussion of Apple products. Unless you don't think the iPhone 7 is an Apple product.

Is it possible for us to have one article on this site that doesn't get overrun with incessant whining about headphone jacks or the lack of Mac updates? You can't possibly NOT know that the headphone jack issue has been discussed extensively on this site. All worthwhile discussion on the topic has long since been exhausted. Please let it go. Any further discussion on this is simply an indication that you want to annoy others by rehashing the topic.

Wow Apple Watch OS3 sucks so bad. I hate it. The got rid of glances! I used that to quickly next music while at work.
Are you kidding? watchOS 3 is a revelation - it makes the original Apple Watch so much better! Glances were essentially barely functional screenshots of apps. They've been replaced by the Dock, activated using the lower side button, which gives you immediate access to actual in-memory, running apps, and the rightmost entry in the Dock is "Now Playing", giving you access to those controls you wanted. If you want even quicker access, you can set a complication to "Music", and get to the controls with one tap - as a bonus, if you use one of the long complications, it'll show the track currently playing. And they've made it easier to quickly change between watch faces, by swiping across the screen, making it more reasonable to keep multiple watch faces around configured for specific situations, so you can have one for the office, with a music complication set up.
