I think the only question left is will we only be able to buy the 1.3 from Apple? I'd love to buy a 1.3/256GB from Amazon to avoid paying a **** ton of tax...

Amazon, I doubt it. B&H usually orders CTO machines. They will probably do the same with these, so B&H is probably a good alternative.

Hope you're right because I have just waited 7 years to swap, so I hope it will be ready for a similarly long haul. Though I expect to try and cut that cycle in half this time around.

I'm with you buddy. I bought my early 2008 macbook new and I'll similarly run this 1.3/256 macbook into the ground. Hopefully I won't have to replace it until 2021 or so.

Amazing to think how long these things have been trucking while hardly missing a beat. One battery replacement and zero blue screens of death. Rugged.

So around 2800/5500 for the 1.3 at 64-bit, compared with 4400/16500 for the retina imac 4GHz. That sounds pretty fine to me, more than half the single-core performance and about a third of the multi-core. Easily good enough for me as a secondary super-portable device.

For comparison: I just purchased the $9.99 GeekBench 3.3.2 off the App store and for my 1.2/512 I ran the 64-bit benchmark and got

2604 Single-Core

5312 Multi-Core

This was with external apps closed accept iStat Menus and it was unplugged. Regardless of any scores or comparisons, though, this little laptop always feels quick and snappy to me. Couldn't be happier with it, honestly

OK, I'm on board. Just had my 1.2 order upgraded to 1.3. Delivery estimate changing from May 19-June 2 to ???

I run most all my stuff via ssh from the rMB on IBM aix 7.1 p760+ servers utilizing hacmp. My architecture skills come into play with designing highly tuned and scalable erp and pcs systems where ihs/websphere/tivoli directory server are required in volumes aka farms. We have over 350+ private cloud hosted clients that run things like JDE,Kronos,Fusion, Infor, SAP and Epic as well as playform as a service and managed service offerings.

Ps...my rMBP was a late 2013 not 2008. That was a typo.
I ordered a 1.3 with expedited shipping on 4/20 with delivery estimate at May 21 per Apple.

So how will the 1.3 handle Excel and Word in Parallels? Is it possible for someone with the 1.3 to test that out? If it struggles with it I might as well spring for the 1.1, don't think the average person will appreciate the difference between 1.1 and 1.3 when I resell in a year.

For those that asked about heat, it did get a little warm this evening. Was watching a YouTube video in Safari and Mail running.

It never got very hot though. Just a noticeable warmth. Some of the vents may also be clogged by my workout pants as I have my legs crossed with the laptop resting on them.

Battery life still shows 5:42 remaining with approximately 1 hour of use tonight plus another 90 minutes of use earlier today (without charging in between).
