That is because FedEx hub is in Memphis, TN. All flights go to Memphis first to sort the packages where they need to go (inbound or outbound). It's a massive FedEx sorting hub.

FYI 3/23 is wednesday, not thursday.
 
Well, pleasant surprise this weekend. I ordered the 11th at 7:57 am est. Order status changed to prepared for shipment a couple hours ago. I received an email a few minutes ago stating my item has been shipped. Apples website states delivered by march 23. Fedex website states it'll be delivered by 24th. I'll be waitng either way.

3/23 is Wednesday .... Same as mine
 
As mentioned in another thread on here.

FedEx will deliver on Saturday, if the shipper paid for Saturday delivery which costs quite a bit more. Most online retailers do not offer FedEx Saturday delivery because of the extra charges.

FedEx Ground does not deliver on Saturday.

FedEx Home Delivery does deliver on Saturday, however doesn't deliver on Monday. Apple has been increasingly using this service to ship larger items (such as printers, etc).

I think we will add another 24 hour Package Status before we see any more movement. There are no more regulary scheduled Fedex flights out of Hong Kong until Monday their time unless they bring in some chartered flights.

I know FedEx doesn't deliver on Sundays, but does anyone know if they'll still ship things? I.E. My ipad will be in memphis in 2 n a half hours or so, will it get moved to the east coast tomorrow or sit in Memphis til Monday?

Im pretty sure they fly 24-7, just deliver Mon-Sat..

That's not true. Not all flights go to Memphis first. My camera connection kit and the smart cover were shipped via Anchorage and then directly to Oakland and on to San Diego. My iPad was shipped from Japan to Memphis and then to San Diego.
Don't know why the routes differ. There's probably a logistical reason for it.

Sorry. I ment fedex home delivery. To many different services other than fast :)
