Minor aesthetic griping about shuffles and similarly colorful iPods: the button labels are gray instead of matching the device color. I don't know why, but that always irked me. Here's a completely necessary comparison GIF depicting my preference:

That was my gripe with the first gen iPod mini too back in the day. My second gen is still going strong after I put in a 32GB memory card+new battery.

I'm glad, I still think there is a market for a iPod Shuffle/Nano device.

I don't want to use my iPhone 6 when running or working out. And sometimes it's nice to just have a simple music device.

There is.... there is totally a market for this.... and most of it goes to appropriately priced $10-$20 devices. The shuffle was over priced in it's heyday, but now it's really over priced for the current time.

My iPod Shuffle 1GB (2nd Generation) is one of my favorite gadgets.
I would easily buy another 2G or higher when/if my original dies.
I may just buy another anyways to have, I love these.

Small, light, and (almost) perfectly formed*, the Shuffle is the only Apple device that I'd be genuinely sad to see discontinued. Perfect as an exercise companion (who needs to be lugging a phone around for music?) and great for kids. I was heartily relieved that we were able to find a replacement for my youngest daughter's dead Shuffle just before we had to travel to the UK at new year.

* Like others have said, increased storage wouldn't go amiss, but it's a fairly minor point for me.

Disruptions in production deliveries is usually indicative of a bit of drama (or poor planning or projects management) behind the scenes.

True. I've considered the current nano. Usually during moments when I get impatient using the voiceover feature on the Shuffle.

The previous track would be nice, but not a deal breaker. But don't the EarPods handle that? I recall something like 3 clicks on cord controls to go back and 2 to go forward?

As for price, a 16gb Nano should be $99, 32gb at $129.
The Shuffle should be no more than $39.

Yes, clicking the center button 3 times on EarPods triggers previous track (and 3 clicks and hold is rewind).

Regarding iPod nano, I think not having larger capacity nano is a bigger problem than it's pricing. I would love a cheaper nano, of course, but let's face it, it's a niche product. My conservative wish is keep the price at $149 but bump the storage to 32GB.

And compounding the problem is very dated user interface on iPod nano. If Apple wants nano to be on an auto pilot, at least update the user interface to be more iOS 7-ish and bump the storage.
