Is Ventura really a California landmark? All previous [California landmark] names used for macOS versions referred to nature in some form or kind and not cities or counties.Ventura sounds the best in my opinion.
The most rewarding experience I’ve had was my trip to the redwoods, then off to Yosemite to see the sequoias. So majestic.
I mean, if we want to be technical, the names of the last two OS's were "Mountains" and "High Mountains", and I'm pretty sure most people would agree that California has some reasonably high mountains. No such thing as the "Sierra Mountains." They are called the Sierra Nevadas.

Also, I think there's real weight behind the theory that the whole thing was done entirely so Craig Federighi could make that "high" joke in last year's WWDC.
It will have to be "Ventura" as there is no love for "Oxnard".
I immediately thought of this campaign, myself. And today's Apple is just clueless enough to pick this name.
...or named after dog breeds. How does macOS Poodle sound?I kind of miss naming OSX releases after "big cats" (like the way Atari did), but these real locations do have a nice touch as well!

If it's macOS Sonoma, there's this great picture of a grassy hill in Sonoma County that they could use as the default wallpaper for it
